“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron say: “His love endures forever.”
Let those who fear the Lord say: “His love endures forever.”
When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place.
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.” Psalm 118:1-9 NIV

Lord,

After reading yesterday that the priests quoted Psalm 118:25 on the last day of the feast of tabernacles I found myself wanting to read it. And I remembered the song below inspired by it. I wonder if the Priests only used the one verse? (Lord, save us! Lord, grant us success!) Were they familiar with the rest of it?

At the laying of the foundation of the second temple, Ezra writes that they sang, He (God) is good, his love endures forever. It looks like the Priests knew that sort repetitive chorus’s are remember easier. Just as we remember today hymn and worship chorus’s when we need to be encouraged.

What a positive Psalm, filled with gratitude and praise. Why else would the writer repeat that Your love endures forever four times in the first four verses, unless he wanted to be sure they, and now we, got it. Your love endures forever. Jesus showed us the extent of Your love and Your abiding Spirit assures us of it. It is best to trust in You.

We give thanks to You Lord, for You are good and Your love endures forever. For us, for me!

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Lord,

For our family, extended family, friends, neighbours.
For unbelieving family members and friends hearts to be refreshed by Your Spirit.
For our Ministers, lay leaders, church members. Sunday school teachers.
For our king and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2).
For Gaza, Middle East, solutions for peace for all.
For Ukraine. Send a miracle, an end to war.
For USA amid political decisions and debates.
For the new children’s Malaria vaccines being trialled successfully in Africa.
For fosterers and adopters of babies, children and youths.
For those who set modern day slaves free and help rehabilitate them.
For friends showing Your faithful support through tough times and sickness.
Thank You that whatever comes today we can rejoice or take refuge in You and find help.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Sunday 21st July 2024

Give thanks to the Lord, our God and King
His love endures forever
For He is good, He is above all things
His love endures forever

Sing praise, sing praise

With a mighty hand and outstretched arm
His love endures forever
For the life that’s been reborn
His love endures forever

Sing praise, sing praise
Sing praise, sing praise
Forever, God is faithful
Forever, God is strong
Forever, God is with us
Forever
and ever

From the rising to the setting sun
His love endures forever
And by the grace of God, we will carry on
His love endures forever

Sing praise, sing praise
Sing praise, sing praise,
Forever, God is faithful
Forever, God is strong
Forever, God is with us
Forever, and ever

Forever . . .
