“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.  This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For, there is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.” 1 Timothy 2:1-6

Father,

It seems that the news today is just an update on Parliament, Ukraine and the Middle East. But now and again they announce the death of a celebrity. Sometimes it is sad as it is someone I have been entertained by but some I have no idea who they are! It is only just one year since the death of Queen Elizabeth was announced. Then we had the concerns over King Charles health and the Princess of Wales.

How we need to pray for peace for ruling authorities ours and around the world. Both royalty, Democratic Countries and those under Military regimes or those under a dictatorship.

We may have many challenges here but we can also reflect and thank You for all that is good in our nation. To give thanks for all those who live here and have made it there home. Those who died for it in past wars and those who still serve in our armed forces. Those who will be the leaders of the future. Those who will use their ingenuity and creativity to benefit society, as has happened in our past. Those who will make breakthroughs in medicine, science. Those who we may never know this side of heaven but whose Christian lives enrich and bless society daily.

Help us to do as Paul says, pray and intercede. For your help but also with thanksgiving.

In Jesus name we give thanks and pray, Amen

Suggestions for prayer,
Our Father

For our close family. Todays needs and blessings.
For our extended family, friends, neighbours.
For our fellowship, ministers and congregations. Make a difference for good.
For our king and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2).
For Parliament, House of Commons and the Lords.
For Your vision for the NHS to be renewed while serving today.
For the residents of Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia as Storm Boris unleashed the worst flooding recorded in the region for more than two decades.
For Ukraine. Lord God, end to war not escalation.
For Gaza, all the Middle East. Step into their midst with Your peace.
For Countries where the Governing groups are in it for their own gain.
For the women and children in Afghanistan and where they are not valued or provided for.
For those charities and Christian groups who take your love and provision to these countries.
For us to be secure in the knowledge that You are still in control, still the Lord of all, King of kings, and we can pray even if we do not see answers yet.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

But the glory, the honour and the Kingdom is all Yours God . . .

King of kings, majesty,
God of Heaven living in me,
gentle Saviour, closest friend,
strong deliverer, beginning and end,
all within me falls at your throne.

Your majesty, I can but bow.
I lay my all before you now.
In royal robes I don’t deserve
I live to serve your majesty.

Earth and Heaven worship you,
love eternal, faithful and true,
who bought the nations, ransomed souls,
brought this sinner near to your throne;
all within me cries out in praise.
Your majesty, I can but bow…
