“Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot—yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. 2 And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. 3 He will delight in obeying the Lord. He will not judge by appearance nor make a decision based on hearsay. 4 He will give justice to the poor and make fair decisions for the exploited. The earth will shake at the force of his word, and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked. 5 He will wear righteousness like a belt and truth like an undergarment. In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. Lord of wisdom,
In my memory I have the lion and the lamb who will lie down together but read in Isaiah it is actually the wolf and the lamb who will live together! The calf and the yearling are safe with the lion. And of course the miracle will be brought about because of the Prince of Peace. Jesus.
From the stump of David a new root. Out of David’s family but born of You, God. The Spirit would rest on Him. We read it happening at Jesus baptism (Matthew 3:16). Jesus was wisdom, understanding, might, knowledge in all He said and did. He had a reverent fear and respect of You Lord, even though He was Your Son and equal. He did not listen to hearsay, He lead the disciples into truth. “Who do people say I am?” So they would discover He was the Messiah (Matthew 16:13-16). He gave justice and healing to the poor.
Then Isaiah does an incredible time jump from the day Jesus would appear in the flesh, to another day much further even in our future. When the earth will shake at the force of His word, and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked. He will wear righteousness based on truth. And those who wear this same righteousness and truth will not be destroyed but be saved by Him. All will be at peace, together. Heaven. To know Jesus is to know You, God and to love Him is to be loved by You. And to know a beautiful promised future.

For Bible translators ensuring Your Word can be read and understood.
For a family support workers and refuges for those in danger from family.
For those who need reassurance and the hope of a future who are terminally sick.
For us to ensure we are at peace with those in our lives even if there are those at odds with us.
For those struggling with there sight and for the charities who work overseas giving back sight.
Thank You that You have made peace with us now and forever.
