“But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from those who persecute me. Make Your face shine upon Your servant; Save me for Your mercies’ sake.” Psalm 31:14-16 NKJV
Father God,
Sunday we gained an hour! But then we had lost one in Spring so we just sort of put it on hold? As a child I thought it went back when my parents got up and changed the clocks. Now many watches, clocks and timers are automatic. Thank goodness.
It reminds us that we do not control time and our times are in Your hand. The Psalmist, possibly King David, was very aware of that, especially in times of danger or conflict. The situations gave him a clear conviction that You were in control of His life and times. I know when I am in a difficult or hard place It is reassuring to know this.
You showed Your authority over time when You the sun stayed in the sky so Joshua could overcome his enemies. (Joshua 10:13-14) It is good to remember that You are God, You go before us, You surround us and nothing is in the hands of chance. One day we shall see, like a rich tapestry, what wisdom, what love, what tenderness, what care was lavished upon us even in the darkest times. Help us appreciate our time and ensure we spend it in Your hands.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Father God,
For our family, friends, neighbours, those we promised to pray for.
For our fellowship, ministers and congregations.
For our king and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2).
For our Government. Lords and commons. Civil Servants. Local councillors
For Ukraine and Russia. For Israel, Lebanon, the Middle East. End to conflict, war.
For those who work shifts and have to adapt their time. And their families.
For those who make time to help, visit or care for elderly or ill family, neighbours and friends.
For us to have time to stop, smile and appreciate the people and Your presence in our day.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

My times are in Thy hand;
My God, I wish them there;
My life, my friends, my soul I leave
Entirely to Thy care.
My times are in Thy hand;
Whatever they may be;
Pleasing or painful, dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.
My times are in Thy hand,
I’ll always trust in Thee;
And, after death, at Thy right hand
I shall forever be.
Verses not included in video:
My times are in Thy hand;
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father’s hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.
My times are in Thy hand,
Jesus, the crucified!
Those hands my cruel sins had pierced
Are now my guard and guide.
