 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:10-13 NIV

God who enables me to stand,

I am not one of these believers who blames the devil for all my problems but now and again when one thing after another goes wrong all at the same time, I do suspect his underlying trouble making. I recognise that the enemy is trying to get me so bothered that I cannot think to pray. Then I know to stop, breathe and ask God to help, direct and protect me. Not to allow events to take over, push me, or fill me with fear and dread of the what ifs!

When I awake in the night suddenly, seemingly startled by something, I love the verse from Proverbs 18:10, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” I can call on Jesus and find calm.

Some days can be more of a battle than others, we are made of emotions and feelings as well as faith. On these days help us to not try to battle on on our own, but call for Your help, so You can see us through and hold us up. Let us see Your goodness now, in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13).

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Suggestions for prayer . . .
God, my strength,

For our family, friends, neighbours, those we promised to pray for.
For our fellowship, ministers and our and neighbouring congregations.
For our king and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2).
For our Government. Lords and commons. Civil Servants. Local councillors.
For Ukraine and Russia. For Israel, Lebanon, the Middle East. Miracles of Peace.
For America as they count the votes.
For those with the midweek blues and autumn hibernation syndrome.
For the emergency services who need to be calm in all circumstances.
For those still looking for the lost in the floods of Valencia Spain. And those with missing family.
For those who work in stressful situations, midwives, veterinary surgeons, care workers, on help lines.
For us to have a calm day or the ability to remain calm. Send Your Holy Spirit to gently blow delight into our day as the wind blows the leaves from the trees.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Wednesday 6th November 2024

I’ll go in the strength of the Lord,
In paths he has marked for my feet;
I’ll follow the light of his word,
Nor shrink from the dangers I meet.
His presence my steps shall attend,
His fulness my wants shall supply;
On him, till my journey shall end,
My unwavering faith shall rely,

I’ll go, I’ll go in the strength,
I’ll go in the strength of the Lord,
I’ll go, I’ll go in the strength,
I’ll go in the strength of the Lord.

I’ll go in the strength of the Lord
To work he appoints me to do;
In joy which his smile doth afford
My soul shall her vigour renew.
His wisdom shall guard me from harm,
His power my sufficiency prove;
I’ll trust his omnipotent arm,
And prove his unchangeable love.

I’ll go in the strength of the Lord
To conflicts which faith will require,
His grace as my shield and reward,
My courage and zeal shall inspire.
Since he gives the word of command,
To meet and encounter the foe,
With his sword of truth in my hand,
To suffer and triumph I’ll go.
