 “The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men for me to hand Midian over to, you Israel might brag, ‘Our own strength has delivered us.’Now, announce to the men, ‘Whoever is shaking with fear may turn around and leave Mount Gilead.’” 22,000 men went home; 10,000 remained. The Lord spoke to Gideon again, “There are still too many men. Bring them down to the water and I will thin the ranks some more. When I say, ‘This one should go with you,’ pick him to go; when I say, ‘This one should not go with you,’ do not take him.”So he brought the men down to the water.” Judges 7:2-5 NET

Lord our deliverer,

From 32,ooo men You chose to use just 300. So it could be no doubt that You, God enabled them to win the victory. We do not know what God can enable us to do till we are in a hard place. And they went down to the enemy camp armed with trumpets, glass jars and bright burning torches. It was in their unity and obedience that You spread confusion and terror into the hearts of the enemy. There was no doubt that You won the victory.

You still choose to use those who keep their spiritual whit’s about them. And we are awed that You have been able to use us. Thank You that You have kept us faithful, have been with us and still lead us on.

We also thank you because in the greatest battle against sin and evil, You chose to come Yourself. Not as a mighty warrior but as a faithful servant willing to suffer. And it did look like the enemy had won on the day You died. But You conquered death and sin and rose victorious. No-one can ever brag that their own strength can save them. Only Jesus can save. We accept Your gift and ask that You still use us for good..

In Jesus name we pray, Amen/

Suggestions for prayer . . .
Lord our deliverer,

For our family, friends, neighbours, those we promised to pray for.
For our fellowship, ministers and our and neighbouring congregations. New comers.
For our king and His family and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2).
For our Government. Lords and commons. Civil Servants. Local councillors.
For Ukraine and Russia. An end to Putin’s plans.
For Israel, Lebanon, the Middle East. Countries in conflict. For miracles of Peace.
For our world and world leaders to seek peace and the good of our planet.
For peace keeping forces around the world, their success and for their families.
For the fragrance of Jesus to fill the homes in our community as they start to plan for Christmas.
For us as we say in Your prayer, deliver us from evil and lead us not into temptation but blessings.
Thank You for finding us, saving us and keeping us.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.
How great the pain of searing loss –
The Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.

Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life –
I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything,
No gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer;
But this I know with all my heart –
His wounds have paid my ransom.
