“This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham . . .
. . . Perez was the father of Hezron. Hezron was the father of Ram. Ram was the father of Amminadab. Amminadab was the father of Nahshon. Nahshon was the father of Salmon.
Salmon was the father of Boaz (whose mother was Rahab). Boaz was the father of Obed (whose mother was Ruth).” Matthew 1:1 and 3-5 NLT

God only wise,

When the genealogy gets to Judah we pass into names that do not mean much to us because we only know the bits, scraps of the story of their lives. Perez, Hezron, Ram, Amminadab (father of Elisheba wife of Aaron), Nahshon, Salmon (who married Rahab a prostitute who enabled Joshua to conquer Jericho). Boaz and Obed.

Father we rejoice that there are men and women in Your genealogy whose names are in the Bible and show us, that You know and can use even us. Those who were not particularly noteworthy. Did not do great exploits.

Many of us will not go down in history for great deeds. Thank You that we do not have to earn Your love. We may not called to be kings but are just as important to You. Thank You that You know us by name (Isaiah 43:1). You adopt us into Your family (John 1:12), never to be forgotten, with a future with You in heaven (1 Peter 1:3-4). We are not just another one on a list, You know us intimately and love us completely. Thank You Father for the love I do not deserve but accept, because it was freely given and cost You so much.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

God only wise,

For our family, friends, neighbours, those we promised to pray for.
Thank You for our forefathers and those to come in our family.
For our Christian family and the plans for Christmas in our churches to draw in new people.
For our king and His family and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2).
For our Government, the 650 MP’s who sit in the house. The many who are not in the limelight.
For Ukraine and Russia. Lord we plead for a miraculous end to war.
For all the conflict in the Middle East in all its complexity and complications. Solutions for peace.
For those who need Your confidence to know they are valued and loved.
For You to bless those who serve with willing hands and hearts, answered prayers and miracles.
For us to know Your presence and blessing and to simply do what You place in front of us. Where and when we can with Your help.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen

Worship Wednesday 4th December 2024
Story of this worship song is below the lyrics with another worship song as I couldn’t decide.

I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in His hands

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call

Lets all sing,
I have a Father
He calls me His own
He’ll never leave me
No matter where I go

Chorus – Repeat

Lyrics: Tommy Walker
The story of writing “He Knows My Name” shows what God can do if we obey. Pastor Mark Pickerill, Pastor wrote a sermon and asked Tommy Walker to write a song to go with it. He thought it was turning out to be one of the worst songs he had written. But he went ahead and finished it, knowing the greatest enemy of songwriters is unfinished songs and because it was a simple act of obedience to God. People all over the world that have been touched because he finished what he started.
In 1997, Tommy met Jerry, a 7 year old orphan in the Philippines. Everyday he would ask me,
“Tommy, what’s my name?” I have to say, not many people on this earth knew this abandoned,
extremely poor boy’s name – but I got to tell him that someone much greater then me did and I
got to sing to him and many of his orphan friends this song.”

All my life He has been faithful . . . I will sing of the goodness of God regardless . . .
