“When Joshua had grown old, the Lord said to him, “You are now very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over. 2 “This is the land that remains: all the regions of the Philistines and Geshurites, 3 from the Shihor River on the east of Egypt to the territory of Ekron on the north, all of it counted as Canaanite though held by the five Philistine rulers in Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron; the territory of the Avvites 4 on the south; all the land of the Canaanites, from Arah of the Sidonians as far as Aphek and the border of the Amorites; 5 the area of Byblos; and all Lebanon to the east, from Baal Gad below Mount Hermon to Lebo Hamath. 6 “As for all the inhabitants of the mountain regions from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim, that is, all the Sidonians, I myself will drive them out before the Israelites. Be sure to allocate this land to Israel for an inheritance, as I have instructed you, 7 and divide it as an inheritance among the nine tribes and half of the tribe of Manasseh.”” Joshua 13:1-7 NIV
Lord of all,
We grow older and the battle we face may change. But You tell us, as You told Joshua and the children of Israel, that they needed to battle on. And if they did not do so, their enemy would always be a thorn in their side.
Today in Jesus we still battle but it is the fight of faith. The war of Your love Lord is continuing right around the world even is some terrible situations. But we the church no longer go out to defeat our enemies. We go out to win them for Jesus and to defeat the enemy who keeps them captive. Paul in his letter to Timothy tells him, “the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.”
Help us to be kind, pray that those not yet in Faith will come to a knowledge of Jesus and be set free. Revive the intercessors and all of us who pray to battle without ceasing for souls to be saved.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Worship Sunday 30th March 2025
Sometimes we just need to sing loud the praises of our God and call on Him who saved us.
O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of His grace.
Jesus! the name that charms our fears,
That bids our sorrows cease;
’Tis music in the sinner’s ears,
’Tis life, and health, and peace.
He speaks — and, listening to his voice,
new life the dead receive,
the mournful broken hearts rejoice,
the humble poor believe.
Hear him, you deaf! his praise, you dumb
your loosened tongues employ;
you blind, now see your saviour come,
and leap, you lame, for joy!
My gracious Master and my God,
Assist me to proclaim,
To spread through all the earth abroad,
The honors of Thy name.
