“Thieves are jealous of each other’s loot, but the godly are well rooted and bear their own fruit.”
“Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.”
“A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.”
“Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.”
“The wise don’t make a show of their knowledge, but fools broadcast their foolishness.”
Proverbs 12: 12,15,16, 18,23 NLT
Father of wisdom,
We progress onwards through proverbs and it is difficult not to keep stopping. The interesting thing to me is that each time I return to Proverbs different ones pop out at me! It seems Your Word speaks to into my situation as well as to a practical Christianity. Perhaps I have too often looked longingly at my friends better car . . . thought I knew best . . . or have become annoyed when not noticed for doing something good. Felt insulted? Sometimes I know I need to shut up and let others have a say. And we all know our own weaknesses well.
But then you end chapter 12 with “The way of the godly leads to life; that path does not lead to death.” (verse 28). And once again I am enfolded in the loving arms of You, God and Your Son. You give me everything I need, and help me when I am not able to be wholly holy. And Your Holy Spirit guides me firmly on the path of eternal life. Praise to You O Lord of my life.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Worship Saturday 7th June 2025
Oh let the Son of God enfold you
With His Spirit and His love
Let Him fill your heart and satisfy your soul
Oh let Him have those things that hold you
And His Spirit like a dove
Will descend upon your life and make you whole
Jesus oh Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs
Jesus oh Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs
Oh come and sing the song of gladness
As your hearts are filled with joy
Lift your hands in sweet surrender to His name
Oh give Him all your tears and sadness
Give Him all your years of pain
And you’ll enter into life in Jesus’ name
Jesus oh Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs
Jesus oh Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs
Repeat first verse
