“Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—

18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord God is my strength;
He will make my feet like deer’s feet,
And He will make me walk on my high hills.” Habakkuk 3:17-19 NKJV

Lord God of my salvation,

After sitting up on the ramparts and looking out to the distant horizon and having an honest conversation with You, God Habakkuk comes to a conclusion. Some things are too big for us to understand but we can still talk it over with You, our God anf Father who walks with us.

And Habakkuk faces the worst scenario that could possibly happen and it is pretty bad. We could probably write a worse worst case scenario for today. It takes away the fear the enemy would like us to live with and he speaks out his conclusion. He will still be joyful in You, Your salvation, Your strength, Your leading and guidance. And I picture a mountain goat skipping up a sheer mountainside, assured You will show it where to put its feet to find security. So too we will trust You for salvation, strength, guidance and to keep us safe on the precipices of life.

Quietly joyful? and

This is my Father’s world,
And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas–
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world:
The birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white,
Declare their Maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world:
He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father’s world:
O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world:
The battle is not done
Jesus who died shall be satisfied
And earth and heaven be one

This is my Father’s world:
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King: let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let earth be glad!
