“When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relationship to the Lord, she came to test Solomon with hard questions. Arriving at Jerusalem with a very great caravan—with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones—she came to Solomon and talked with him about all that she had on her mind. Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her. When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he had built, the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he made at the temple of the Lord, she was overwhelmed.” 1 Kings 10:1-5 NKJV

“Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the Lord’s eternal love for Israel, he has made you king to maintain justice and righteousness.” 1 Kings 10:9 NKJV

Lord our God,

The queen of Sheba came a great distance, about 1,500 miles, I read. Today we would not think it far and probably take a plane. But she came by camel caravan and had a great deal of gifts for Solomon. She brought witness of what riches her life was made of. She also had as many questions and was shown everything he had and she marvelled at it. Or rather was overwhelmed.

She was a seeker of a sort. Looking to see what he had and how he had come by it and what she could learn for herself and her situation. People seeking to know about God and faith sometimes ask a lot of questions and it is great to be able to help them find answers. They want and need to see them for themselves. They too look at what we have and want to know if they can have the same. They also come with all they have and hopefully learn they do not need gifts to give You. They can have all the riches of heaven for nothing but a humble repentant heart.

The queen of Sheba went home impressed by Solomon and acknowledging His God. Father we ask that seekers will come and not be impressed by us but by You and Your gift of salvation and want it for themselves.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Monday 11th May 2026
We want this experience, the one we have, for seekers . . .

Lord I come to you
Let my heart be changed renewed
Flowing from the grace that
I have found in you
And lord I have come to know
The weakness I see in me
Will be stripped away
By the power of your love

Hold me close let your love surround me
Bring me near draw me to your side
And as I wait I’ll rise up like an eagle
And I will soar with you
Your spirit leads me on
By the power of your love

Lord unveil my eyes
Let me see you face to face
The knowledge of your love
As you live in me
Lord renew my mind
As your will unfolds in my life
In living everyday
By the power of your love

Chorus twice

“Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.” Proverbs 20:1 NKJV.

Father God,

I have heard all the arguments for and against alcohol. From the reasoning that Jesus turned water into wine (John 2:1-11) and that wine was not that strong in biblical days. I have no problem with someone who enjoys a glass of wine with a meal or to celebrate and event. But here is where the line is drawn.

Solomon talks about those who have no self control or who are affected by it to be obnoxious. I have been at church events where people have brought their wine and do not know when the line has been crossed. And have been embarrassed by it. Paul says to the church in the New Testament we should not do what might lead others astray (1 Corinthians 8:9). When things are not black and white there is always Your wisdom God to help us.

Nothing should be more important than our relationship with You. Drink but as Paul says to the church in Ephesians 5:18, “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.” The NKJ Version uses the word ‘dissipation’ -the scattering, wasting, or gradual disappearance of energy, resources, or substances. The Word has the last word.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Sunday 10th May 2026
I came across this song which is a testimony as well as worship. Some just cannot control the intake and it controls them. And it is impossible to know before hand.

“This is a new worship song with lyrics, and a Christian song about addiction and how Jesus and the Father have helped me see the light over the last 2 years in my recovery. After being inspired by my local churches worship team, I decided to come back to music.” Zarak Simmons.

“The name of the Lord is a fortified tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.
11 The wealth of the rich is their fortified city;
they imagine it a wall too high to scale.” Proverbs 18:10-11 NKJV

God,

Whose name is wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Whose name is like a fortified tower a place of safety. I have to pause at this verse again this year.

It is amazing when faced with trauma or danger how many people say O God. Or they clutch lucky charms or have a mantra that they believe has power. And they find in doing so enough time to breathe and calm a little. But to call on the name of the Lord, whichever name of the Trinity is used, that is to call on all the resources of You our creator, upholder and provider.

But Your name is not a magic charm or a good luck mantra. We cannot use Your name as a safe word to escape life. Some people pray and receive an answer and then give You no more thought. Some blame You for something tragic that happened in the past and I can empathise with that. But faith is a relationship and it takes some working on for us to fully understand You. And we find that calling on You puts us in a safe place where we can know You are actively with us and for us (Romans 8:31). Some things You take away, some things You miraculously answer and some things You take us through. We run in to not just Your name but into You our God, our help and Savour. Calling on You changes things.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Saturday 9th May 2026

Had to be this . . .

Blessed be the name of the Lord,
Blessed be the name of the Lord,
Blessed be the name of the Lord Most High

The name of the Lord is a strong tower
The righteous run into it and they are saved

Blessed be the name of the Lord,
Blessed be the name of the Lord,
Blessed be the name of the Lord Most High

Jesus is the name of the Lord
Jesus is the name of the Lord
Jesus is the name of the Lord on high

Jesus is the name of the Lord most high
Jesus is the name of the Lord most high
