“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:3-4 NKJV
God of our living hope,
We trundle along in relative peace and then we are challenged by price hikes, house repairs, family sickness and they bring with them anxiety. Sometimes, it is all about our need to be fully in control and not liking to have to trust others or You. I just want a simple uncomplicated life Lord if I am honest.
Yet here You are, Lord, telling us to focus on our heavenly inheritance which will not devalue, rise in price, be broken or be unavailable for a while! It is secure and paid for completely, in Jesus. And in Matthew’s gospel you remind us to store up treasure in heaven where it will not rust or be stolen. (Matthew 6:20). And not to worry about tomorrow and what may or may not happen. But live trusting You, today (Matthew 6:34).
You are with us today and we can be assured that whatever comes tomorrow You will help us. Now is not forever and our forever contains a glorious inheritance for the saints – those who love Jesus. An inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for us who are kept by the power of God through faith. Help us deal with the nitty gritty till we get there!
In Jesus name we pray, Amen
God our living hope,
For our family, friends and neighbours. Help them in the nitty gritty of life and give them a glimpse of Jesus and heaven this Easter season.
For our church family. Our ministers and church leadership. Call new young people to train for the ministry in all denominations.
For the Royal family. Their health. To be able to have privacy along with their public duties.
For our government. House of commons, House of Lords, civil servants. At this unsettled time.
For our nearest towns and cities and city centres. For employment and growth.
For farmers at this busy time. Giving thanks for food grown in the UK.
For an end to the war in Ukraine.
For justice and a long term solution to live in peace in Gaza.
For help with the things we need to do, should do and those things we want to do. For those You send to help us. And thank you for all You have helped us with and through in the past year.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Worship Wednesday 20th March 2024
There’s a place where the streets shine
With the glory of the Lamb.
There’s a way, we can go there,
We can live there beyond time.
Because of You, because of You,
Because of Your love,
Because of Your blood.
No more pain, no more sadness,
No more suffering, no more tears.
No more sin, no more sickness,
No injustice, no more death.
Because of You, because of You,
Because of Your love,
Because of Your blood.
All our sins are washed away,
And we can live forever,
Now we have this hope,
Because of You.
Oh, we’ll see You face to face,
And we will dance together
In the city of our God,
Because of You.
There is joy everlasting,
There is gladness, there is peace.
There is wine ever flowing,
There’s a wedding, there’s a feast
Because of You, because of You,
Because of Your love,
Because of Your blood.
All our sins are washed away,
And we can live forever,
Now we have this hope,
Because of You.
Oh, we’ll see You face to face,
And we will dance together
In the city of our God,
Because of You.
