“But now apart from the law the righteousness of God (although it is attested by the law and the prophets) has been disclosed— 22 namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 But they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:21-24 NET

Holy God,

There was no other good enough to pay the price of sin. Yesterdays worship reminded me.. And also that the message all the way through the Bible is – that we all do sin!

Sin – missing the mark of Your holiness (perfection). It can be doing or not doing something. Intentional (sins of commission) and unintentional (sins of omission). Sin is any thought, word, or action that is in disobedience to Your will God (1 John 2:16) It boils down to three areas usually: to money, sex and power. All can be good but all can become corrupted and lead to sin.

Iniquity – often used in the Bible to do with a sinful act, adultery or lust. Moral uncleanness. Jesus said lusting in the mind was a sin. Paul says (2 Corinthians 10:5), that we should take each thought captive and reject the ones that would lead us to iniquity.

Transgression – the crossing of God’s boundary, wilfully doing something known to be wrong, trespassing. A word we do not use much today as no-one like to think of themselves as being in the wrong!

Thank You that guilt is not a punishment to carry for life. It sends us fleeing to You. Not to make us beat ourselves up, but to repent, change our behaviour and see if there is anything we need to do for reparation. To learn from our mistakes. So You can remove guilt and shame, restore our peace, humility and well being. Thank You.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Sunday 28th July 2024
Sometimes we just want a simple catchy song that repeats the truth from Scripture. I love this.

Cast your burdens on Jesus, for He cares for you.
Cast your burdens on Jesus, for He cares for you.

Higher higher, higher higher higher higher, higher,
Lift Jesus higher.
Higher higher, higher higher higher higher, higher,
Lift Jesus higher.

Lower lower, lower lower lower lower, lower,
Stomp Satan lower.
Lower lower, lower lower lower lower, lower,
Stomp Satan lower.

So cast all Your burdens
cast all Your burdens
cast all Your burdens
cast all Your burdens on Him

Cast your burdens on Jesus, for He cares for you.
Cast your burdens on Jesus, for He cares for you.
