“But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” Jude 1:17-21 KJV

God of love and mercy,

Jude’s letter is short but certainly packs a punch relevant to every generation. Warning us that we should not be surprised that there is a difference in behaviour and motivation between those who believe and those who don’t. It is as different as heaven and hell. I do not like to think of it Lord, when it comes to those I love who do not believe in You.

But Jude reminds us that our first responsibility is to ourselves, to make sure we are not disillusioned, doubt or loose faith in You. Or we will be lost and not able to help others. We must recognise that since the first day of Your resurrection there have been those who mocked and wanted to walk in their own way. It is just the same 2,000 years later! But it will not be for ever . . .

For now the victorious way is to pray, with Your Holy Spirit helping us. To keep ourselves living holy lives with You and wrapped in Your lavish love. Keeping our eyes and hope fixed on the future we have in You, God. Tomorrow and forever. Your way, Your truth and Your life (John 14:6). Keep us alive through Your Son, Jesus Christ.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

God of love and mercy,

For our family, friends, neighbours. Todays needs. Strengthen their faith or help them find You.
For our Ministers, lay leaders, church members. Opportunities to talk about Jesus.
For our nation and future Government. Be amongst all that is said and done, reveal the best.
For Ukraine, a powerful move of Your Spirit to change circumstances and end this war.
For the widows and orphans in many countries that have had or are at war. Churches there.
For undercover missionaries working overseas supporting underground churches.
For Gaza, and the Middle East. A move forward past history and vengeance to make peace.
For our media. What is shown before the watershed and after. Endless brainwashing advertising.
For our justice system to work with justice, love, mercy and peace and public protection.
For us to remember the stories of Jesus in Your Word and drowned out the unbelieving world.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

I love this tune! It just brings this hymn into today and is much more cheerful.

Tell me the stories of Jesus
I love to hear;
Things I would ask him to tell me
If He were here:
Scenes by the wayside,
Tales of the sea,
Stories of Jesus,
Tell them to me.

First let me hear how the children
Stood round his knee,
And I shall fancy his blessing
Resting on me;
Words full of kindness,
Deeds full of grace,
All in the love-light
Of Jesus’ face.

Show me that scene in the garden
of bitter pain;
Show me the cross where my Savior
for me was slain;
Sad ones or bright ones
so that they be
Stories of Jesus
tell them to me.

“Dear friends, although I have been eager to write to you about our common salvation, I now feel compelled instead to write to encourage you to contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certain men have secretly slipped in among you—men who long ago were marked out for the condemnation I am about to describe—ungodly men who have turned the grace of our God into a license for evil and who deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.” Jude 1:3,4 NET

Lord God Almighty,

Compelled is a strong word. The KJV says diligence. Still a strong word. The church was at risk from people who were not just watering down the gospel but who denied Christ. And I think, well, thank goodness my fellowship is made up of people who believe in You or who are wanting to know more about You. But outside the church people believe in all sorts.

I only have to switch on my TV to hear people speaking about evolution in an educated and assumed manner. Speaking as if no-one could still believe in a creator God. Who will willingly take Your name in vain but would never mock other religions. How we need to be sure of what we believe when we are subtly drip fed the opposite. Keep us in fellowship with believers, in the Bible and with You.

The world does not change, man does not change. Man still wants to be God or have a God he can understand and worship what ever he loves most. Thank You for finding us, saving us, and remaining with us. Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Lord God Almighty,

For our family and friends and neighbours. All they physically need and for their eyes to see You.
For our Ministers, lay leaders, church members. To be a witness to You and a place to find hope.
For our nation and the Government we need for the future. Shake up with love, mercy and peace..
For Ukraine, a powerful move of Your Spirit to change circumstances and end war.
For the widows and orphans of war.
For refugees who have settled here, opportunity for rebuilding their lives and families.
For undercover missionaries working overseas supporting underground churches.
For Gaza, and the Middle East. A move forward past history and vengeance to make peace.
For industry and employment and the health of our nation’s economy.
For our young people and their futures.
For our justice system to work with justice, love, mercy and peace and public protection.
For us to have a day of rest in mind, body and spirit. Whether at home, work or away. Busy or resting.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen

There is a spoken introduction to the song. I love hymns that paint pictures in my mind.

Fairest Lord Jesus,
ruler of all nature,
O thou of God and man the Son,
Thee will I cherish,
Thee will I honor,
thou, my soul’s glory, joy, and crown.

Fair are the meadows,
fairer still the woodlands,
robed in the blooming garb of spring:
Jesus is fairer,
Jesus is purer
who makes the woeful heart to sing.

Fair is the sunshine,
fairer still the moonlight,
and all the twinkling starry host:
Jesus shines brighter,
Jesus shines purer
than all the angels heaven can boast.

Beautiful Savior!
Lord of all the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honour,
praise, adoration,
now and forevermore be thine
now and forevermore be thine.

“Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ: Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.” Jude 1:1-2 NKJV

From Jude, a slave of Jesus Christ and brother of James, to those who are called, wrapped in the love of God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ. May mercy, peace, and love be lavished on you! Jude 1:1-2 NET

God the Father,

Stumbling blocks, You reminded us yesterday. They will come. Life is not straightforward it is full of surprises and temptations and unexpected things that cause us worry and stress. Life is good but hard sometimes! Jude’s little letter may be full of troubles, errors and even problems to avoid-even in the church- but it contains Your balance. It is not one sided doom and gloom.

Thank You for Jude’s threefold greeting like a beautiful three-note chord in harmony and recurring throughout his epistle. Mercy, peace and love.  Proverbs reminds us a cord of three is not easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12). I love these verses in Jude in the New English Translation and the three dimensional picture of sanctification. “Being wrapped in Your Love and kept safe for Jesus.” Pause and think of that! God’s love, His Spirit keeping us safe, because of Jesus. Our Saviour God. We try our best then You wrap us in love literally and spiritually and keep us safe for eternity..

Chill, we cannot be perfect we just do our best with Your help. You are the merciful one who keeps us holy, at peace and secure in Your love. Which You do not measure out, apportion or ration – but lavish upon us. Thank You for mercy, peace and love. Wrap us up and keep us every day.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

God the Father,

For our family and friends and neighbours. Wrap them in Your love and lead them in peace.
For our Ministers, lay leaders, church members. Church, where people find love, mercy, peace.
For the royal family. Love, mercy and peace.
For our nation and the Government we need for the future. Shake up with love, mercy and peace..
For Ukraine, a powerful move of Your Spirit to change circumstances and end war.
For refugees who have settled here, opportunity for rebuilding their lives and families.
For Gaza, and the Middle East. A move forward past history and vengeance to make peace.
For industry and employment and the health of our nation’s economy, and where we live.
For our justice system to work with justice, love, mercy and peace and public protection.
For us to feel wrapped, enfolded in Your love and have opportunity to let someone else know they are loved both by us and God.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Keeping it simple today. Singing it to Jesus Himself.

I sing a simple song of love
To my Savior, to my Jesus.
I’m grateful for the things You’ve done,
My loving Savior, my precious Jesus.

My heart is glad that You’ve called me Your own.
There’s no place I’d rather be than

In Your arms of love,
In Your arms of love.
Holding me still, holding me near,
In Your arms of love.
