“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21 NKJV

Father God,

If life is a journey we need a destination and good directions!. And how to get back when diverted or confused by our sense of direction! For the car we now have satnav’s – and even maps and directions on our smart phones! For life? We are blessed by the promise that your children will have Your directions.

And then You sent Jesus. The way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). The visible image of You, our invisible God (Colossians 1:15) He gave the same promise to guide and direct. He promised, and You sent Your Holy Spirit to guide us. (John 16:13).

More than an internal personalised satnav. Not a disembodied voice, pre-recorded with all eventualities but still occasionally sending to dead ends! But You, living in us, speaking to us and showing us the best way forward or to stay still or back track. Assuring, reassuring, showing the best way through complicated places, painful times and when there seems to be no light. Comforting, ever present and encouraging. Watching every step, to help not to hinder. Showing us how to respect others travelling the same way. What a destination we have. What a journey with You. Speak Lord, they servant heareth (1 Samuel 3:9).

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

God, who directs our paths,

For family, friends, neighbours, health, joy and the knowledge they are loved by You and us.
For our church family, ministers and all who serve and need to hear You for the family of God.
For all the Royal family. For Charles treatment to be successful and gentle. Kates full recovery.
For our government and MPs and their families. To hear Your voice regardless of political drive.
For those at crossroads and making decisions. Moving home, getting married, changing employment. Hearing the call to church ministry.
For an end to the war in Ukraine.
For Gaza an end to killing and hostage taking. Along with Yemen, Myanmar, North Korea, Chine, Sudan, Syria and other countries where there is war, aggression, oppression, dictatorship, slavery.
For our waterways to be respected and cleaned up.
Help us to keep looking up as we go through today and see all your blessings and directions and help us in our decisions.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Oh lead me
To the place where I can find you
Oh lead me
To the place where you’ll be

Lead me to the cross
Where we first met
Draw me to my knees
So we can talk
Let me feel your breath
Let me know you’re here with me

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12,13 NKJV

Father God,

The right to become Your child! You entitle us absolutely when we believe in You, and Your Son, provides the door and signs the covenant as we pass through. And there it is, simply put, the gospel right at the beginning of book of John.

Becoming one of Your family, which results in privileges and spiritual power in Jesus name. Power that overcame, overcomes death. A name, in literature, legal documents, and conversation, represents the person and their authority. The “name” of Jesus is not our magic formula, or incantation, it means we trust in His person, His sacrifice, and His salvation. Therefore also in You, Father. His name grants us entitlement and welcome into Your presence, Your parenthood, Your provision.

Father You guide, help, uphold, protect and plan the best for us, as a good father would. And like children who spend a lot of time with their father we want to be like You and be transformed into Your likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18). And to please You.

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Suggested prayers: Family, friends, Church family, our community and nation.
The Royal family and those in Parliament, law and order and emergency services.
Peace in Ukraine, the Middle East.
Our needs for today and Your blessings to enrich it. And good rest when dark falls.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved” John 10:9a NIV

Lord God Almighty, Yahweh, Jehovah,

I am? One of Your names from the old Testament that You told to Moses at the burning bush. We know You by so many names in the Bible and I wonder if “I am” encapsulates all of them! Here the name used by Your Son is to give us a picture of what He does rather than who He is? It seems strange to call Yous Son a gate. But He was also a carpenter. Jesus said He was and is the passage way, the person we must know, and pass through to be acceptable to You, to find forgiveness, peace and holiness. And it is what happens, the miracle, when we know Him, our gateway to You that is life changing.

Whoever enters through Jesus, will be saved. We don’t hear it spoken about much these days – being saved by Jesus Your Son. But You saved me. You saved me from loneliness, rejection, condemnation, guilt, jealousy, anxiety, fear of the future, sin, hell, death and the lack of a final destination.

We owe our lives to You, who came as our Saviour. We don’t have to grovel. Jump through spiritual hoops. Be afraid that Salvation may be taken away. We just need to stick with You and we will go in and out and find pasture (John 10:9). Now and forever. The great I Am our Saviour.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Saviour,

For family, friends, neighbours, health, joy and the knowledge they are loved by You and us..
For our church family, ministers and all who serve to hear and follow the voice of the Shepherd..
For all the Royal family. For Charles treatment to be successful and gentle. Kates full recovery.
For our government and MPs and their families. To walk upright and not follow their own desires.
For those who save lives: surgeons, life boats crews, Samaritan help lines, social workers.
For world Governments to make selfless decisions for peace and all humanity.
For Ukraine and Gaza permanent peace. Along with Yemen, Myanmar, North Korea, Chine, Sudan, Syria and all countries where there is war, aggression, oppression, dictatorship, slavery.
For the sheep who have wandered from Jesus to find their way back to faith.
For those locked in to depression, doubt and dilemmas to find the gate to Your green pastures.
That we might hear Your gentle voice and have a good day and a peaceful nights rest.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Thursday 15th February 2024

My Jesus, my Savior
Lord there is none like you
All of my days, I want to praise
The wonders of your mighty love
My comfort, my shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You

Shout to the Lord, all the earth let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name
I sing for joy at the work of your hands
Forever I’ll love you, forever I’ll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have
In YOU

Lyrics: Darlene Zschech

Known as ‘Shout to the Lord’, this song was written in 1993 at a time of great discouragement for the family and their business and is a declaration of unshakeable faith in the face of setback.

“At the time, Darlene and her husband, Mark… had two babies, and with a struggling motorcycle-parts business, money was tight. It was during one particularly stressful day that Darlene snuck into the toy room where they kept their piano and put into song the spiritual truths to which she desperately clung: ‘Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of your name,’ and ‘Nothing compares to the promise I have in you.’
