“And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. 2 For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3 And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him—whom Sarah bore to him—Isaac. 4 Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. 5 Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. 6 And Sarah said, “God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.” 7 She also said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.” Genesis 21:1-7 NKJV
“Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, 40 and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. 41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” Luke 1:39-41 NKJV
Father of all,
Three babies. One who would grow to have a family as large as the number of starts in the sky! Who would herald coming the one promised. The one who would enable You, God to bless all nations, not just Abrahams and be the Saviour of the world.
Each birth a pivotal moment in time. Each necessary. And when creation held the creator in a cradle and was trusted, knowing that trust would be betrayed. A miracle of love. Abraham and Sarah laughed at the promise of their baby. Sarah tried to make things happen and did not believing she could conceive. But what is according to Your will is always possible. She did not even need to believe – it still happened. Because You spoke Lord.
You still speak today, miracles still happen. Sometimes we miss them. Answers to prayers we have forgotten we prayed. Sometimes Your ways are a mystery to us because You are God and we are mortals. But we stand on the promises and the covenants You have made with us. You do not rush things. Those babies all had to grow. Even Jesus had to grow just as we do. Help us not to wish time away but allow us to see what You are doing in us, in the Kingdom of God and in each other for good.
In Jesus, name we pray, Amen.

In His time, in His time
He makes all things beautiful
In His time
Lord please show me everyday
As you’re teaching me your way
That you do just what you say
In your time
In your time, in your time
You make all things beautiful
In your time
Lord my life to you I bring
May each song I have to sing
Be to you a lovely thing
In your time
Lord please show me everyday
As you teaching me your way
That you do just what you say
In your time
In your time
