“When Joseph was taken to Egypt by the Ishmaelite traders, he was purchased by Potiphar, an Egyptian officer. Potiphar was captain of the guard for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.  The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did. This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made Joseph his personal attendant.” Genesis 39:1-4 NLT

“Potiphar was furious when he heard his wife’s story about how Joseph had treated her. 20 So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king’s prisoners were held, and there he remained. 21 But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favourite with the prison warden. 22 Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison. 23 The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything.” Genesis 39:19-23

Our Father,

Joseph prospered on his arrival in Egypt as a slave. But then had to make a choice between his values and the requests of his masters wife. He chose righteousness and suffered. Now a criminal, and judged unjustly guilty, what does he do? His best. And You, Father watch over and bless him.

It reminds me of a verse in Colossians someone gave me as I helped do menial chores somewhat begrudgingly, “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” Colossians 3:23,24)

What more is there to say. Except to ask for Your help Lord to have the same attitude as Christ. Who did not think equality with God as something to cling to. Who gave up his divine privileges and took the humble position of a slave. Help us do everything as if for You as Jesus did.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Love this more joyful upbeat arrangement of a well known hymn.

Take my life and let it be consecrated to Thee
Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my voice and let me sing always, only for my King
Take my lips and let them be filled with messages from Thee
Filled with messages from thee.

Take my love, my Lord I pour at Your feet, it’s treasure store
Take myself and I will be ever, only, all for Thee
Ever only all for Thee.
Ever only all for Thee . . .

Take my will and make it Thine it shall be no longer mine
Take my heart it is Thine own, it shall be Thy royal throne
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my heart it is Thine own, it shall be Thy royal throne.
It shall be Thy royal Throne.
