“Then Saul clothed David with his own fighting attire and put a bronze helmet on his head. He also put body armour on him. 39 David strapped on his sword over his fighting attire and tried to walk around, but he was not used to them. David said to Saul, “I can’t walk in these things, for I’m not used to them.” So David removed them.” 1 Samuel 17:38,39

God Saul, David and us,

We praise and thank you for the Bible. Your history and ours. For the endless inspiration it brings about relationships with you. Like the history of David, it is about Him personally but also about Your people. We praise You, that You love us both together as Your church and individually as Your child.

I love the stories about David. He wasn’t important or special, he was just the youngest, left to look after the sheep. Then he got a rotten job playing a harp to calm a depressive physically abusive King. Later he got to carry Saul’s armour and it weighed a ton! He was not noticeable. Not important enough to be recognised by the King when he offered to fight Goliath! But he had learned skills in his young life just doing his chores -protecting the sheep. And trusting You, God.

He did try Saul’s armour on. But learned as we need to, just to be himself. He knew his own strengths and weaknesses. He stood for You, God as he was. Thank you that we are created an original, each of us special, with our own abilities (1 Corinthians 12:11). Your Spirit can use each of us. You, Lord planned for us to do good things. (Ephesians 2:10). We may only have the equivalent of one small sling. No problem to You. Help us to enjoy doing Your will. Even if it is occasionally scary.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Eternal God,

For our family, friends, neighbours, those we promised to pray for.
For our fellowship and congregation members, our ministers, servers, wardens.
For our king and His family and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2). Local Council.
For our Government, advisors, diplomats and ambassadors.
For Ukraine and Russia. Miracles to lead to the end of war and oppression.
For Israel, Lebanon, the Middle East. Countries in conflict. Your purposes override those of man.
For young people at school standing for their faith. For success sharing Jesus with their friends.
For those ministers with many churches to care for – call and raise up the next generation.
For our community, a revival of interest in Christianity and faith.
For the endless good that is done daily by Your people, the church, locally. Bless Your servants.
For us to thank You for a new morning. Whatever the day holds bless us with health and strength.
Take from us things we should not be carrying and let us hit and kill al that would seek to bring us down, depression, negativity, unforgiveness.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Cheers me up and makes me thankful..

If I were a butterfly,
I’d thank you, Lord, for giving me wings;
And if I were a robin in a tree,
I’d thank you Lord, that I could sing;
And if I were a fish in the sea,
I’d wiggle my tail and I’d giggle with glee;
But I just Thank You Father, for making me – ME!

’Cause you gave me a heart and
You gave me a smile
You gave me Jesus, and
You made me His Child
And I just Thank You, Father
For making me – ME!

If I were an elephant,
I’d thank you, Lord, by raising my trunk;
And if I were a kangaroo,
You know I’d hop, hop, hop, right up to you;
And if I were an octopus,
I’d thank you, Lord, for my good looks;
But I just Thank You, Father, for making me – ME!

If I were a wiggly worm,
I’d thank you, Lord, that I could squirm;
And if I were a fuzzy-wuzzy bear,
I’d thank you, Lord, for my fuzzy-wuzzy hair;
And if I were a crocodile,
I’d thank you, Lord, for my big smile;
But I just Thank You, Father, for making me – ME!
