“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Revelation 21:1-4 NLT
God our creator, the creator,
Looking at our world today, changing climate, natural disasters, poisoned earth. Changing sin? No that remains the same but seems to also grow because we hear and see it constantly in the media. Romans talks about all of creation groaning and suffering and waiting for redemption (Romans 8:22). Even those who do not have faith can see something is desperately wrong. And mankind is not ‘getting better’ as it learns more! Some of us just live better with more technology and medicine.
But we, because of the Book of Revelation, hold on to the promise that though man will never grow to be better or good You will make earth and heaven new as if there had been no sin. I wonder at a new earth as well as heaven? But then earth was perfect at the beginning and You found it good. You are a restorer and not a repairer – You can make it perfect again for Your delight. Will we see the new earth along with heaven? I hope so. But as promised, we will live where there is no evil, no tears, no death, no mourning and amongst a people at peace with You and each other. We will know love as Jesus loves us.
It gives us hope and a secure anchor in the storms of life or when we are becalmed. Thank You that You are eternal and Jesus gives us an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading (1 Peter 1:4).
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Worship Saturday 3rd January 2026
Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you washed in the blood?
In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless, are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
Oh, be washed in the blood of the Lamb!
Some glad morning when this life is over
I’ll fly away
To a home on God’s celestial shore
I’ll fly away
I’ll fly away, oh, Glory, I’ll fly away
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by
I’ll fly away
Just a few more weary days and then
I’ll fly away
To a land where joy shall never end
I’ll fly away
