“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV
“Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?’ 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” Mark 4:38,39 NIV
God of Peace,
Peace can mean so many things. Silence, lack of chores, someone taking over our responsibilities, sleep or maybe escape from having to think! Peace with You appears to be something deeper all encompassing and not reliant on circumstances. It is only available through Jesus. We cannot earn it or work at or for it. It brings freedom. No fear of judgement, Jesus paid the price. No fear of death Jesus leads us finally to heaven. No fear of being abandoned because Your Spirit lives in us. But sometimes it feels like the world, the enemy and life is determined to take it away.
You showed us that peace is not being in a calm place with mood music and eyes closed! Peace is not shutting the door and eating chocolate cake! Not going to bed to retreat! It is allowing You to be our peace amidst it all. Show us how to know and hold on to Your peace in our day.
In Mark You bring peace in the storm on the lake. Help us find courage and give us faith to know, if storms come, we can trust You. Help us to make good decisions not easy ones. To make peace not keep the peace at any cost. Jesus did not avoid Jerusalem He faced what God had put before Him. Dispel all our fears with Your presence and Your peace.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
God of peace,
For our close family. .
For our extended family, friends, neighbours, those we promised to pray for..
For our fellowship, ministers and congregations. Mid week prayer meetings.
For our king and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2).
For our Government. Lords and commons. Civil Servants.
For Ukraine and Russia.
For Israel, Lebanon, all around the Middle East.
For Sudan and Myanmar.
For peace, goodness, kindness to be victorious around our world.
For America and their political future.
For those facing financial and employment struggles. Health issues and family concerns. Peace and practical miracles.
For Your peace for our land and trees, so they rest ready to grow strong next year.
For those working in our local community shops, dentist, doctors to know Your peace.
For ourselves to listen to others today and their worries and give our own to You.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea-billows roll,
whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
It is well with my soul,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
Verse not sung in video
(Though Satan may buffet, though trials may come,
let blessed assurance control:
that Christ hath regarded my helplessness estate
and hath shed his own blood for my soul.)
My sin, O the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
is nailed to his cross and I bear it no more;
praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll.
The trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend:
Even so it is well with my soul.
