1Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.
O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”
As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”
Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on my lips.
O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.
The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.
I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will  rest in hope.
10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16

My God and my Lord,

This is one of many Psalms it is worth lingering over. Reading through and then going back and giving each verse some personal attention. David is reminding himself that You, the Lord of Lords is Lord of him. And how grateful he is for the delight of knowing there are others round the world who believe in You too.

I am grateful I do not have to rely on myself. I rely on You. I am so grateful for other believers who have prayed for me, encouraged me, and who are serving You in their part of the Kingdom. Who love Jesus as I do.

I should find time and be grateful for where You have placed me. Not complain. To be secure that You are at my right hand, that You are my source of power and strength. Even when I am personally deplete. Knowing You are with me always should bring that deep joy. That inner joy that is not passing happiness or just contentment, but fullness of joy.

And there in verse 10 we see David speaking of One to come. Your Son who You would not allow to see corruption but who would show us the path to life. All through the Old Testament You give signposts to Jesus. How wonderful. The joy bringer Himself (John 15:11). Thank You for this Psalm, help me be glad and rejoice in who I am, where I am and and be full of the joy of Your presence and the delight in knowing others who worship You.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

This hymn is definitely not just for Christmas. I joyfully love this version.

Joy to the world! Joy to the world! Oh, whoa

Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Let earth receive her King (oh-whoa)
Let every heart prepare Him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing And heaven, and heaven and nature sing

Oh-oh-oh, Joy to the world! Joy to the world! Oh

Joy to the world, the Savior reigns
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods Rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy

Joy to the world then we sing
Let the earth receive her King!
Joy to the world then we sing
Let the angel voices ring

Joy to the world then we sing
Let the men their songs employ
Joy to the world then we sing
And repeat the sounding joy

He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
And glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders, wonders of His love
And wonders, wonders of His love

Joy to the world then we sing
Let the earth receive her King
Joy to the world then we sing
Let the angel voices ring

“So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.”
Luke 2:4-7 NIV

Jesus the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation (Colossians 1:15).
The head of the body, the church, as well as the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he himself may become first in all things (Colossians 1:18). Yet just a baby.

Thank You that we can know You, follow You now and into eternity. We pray for all those we know and love that they would come to know You and follow You. Bless each and every one of them.

In Jesus name we pray Amen.

I love this tune.

Away in a manger
No crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head
The stars in the bright sky
Looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing
The Baby awakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes
I love You, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side
Until morning is nigh

Be near me, Lord Jesus
I ask You to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray
Bless all the dear children
In Your tender care
And fit us for heaven
To live with You there

Lyrics: Anon.

Bless our world
