“But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “You are blessed, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven!” Matthew 16:15,16.
Saviour,
Another Sunday comes around these days it is often grey and damp and we do not jump out of bed, throw open the curtains to greet the sun! I do get a little fed up. Help me, us as the hymnist says to shake off dull sloth and joyful rise, to pay thy morning sacrifice. (Awake my soul and with the sun).
We are truly blessed because like Peter, we can say, You are the Christ, son of the living God. Our Saviour. You light up our lives amidst the greyness. Even before Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, You planned to rescue us. You kept Your promises even though Your people continually sinned and we still do.
So thank You for Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) Sometimes we worship full of praise, sometimes just because we should and sometimes because we need You in the greyness. Today help us worship You for who You are. King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the great I am.
Your family of three, Father, Son and Holy Spirit is One and in perfect harmony. Its hard to understand what Jesus gave up to come to earth. But it showed us the depth, breadth width of Your love for us (Ephesians 3:18,19). “The blood of Jesus Your Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7)and we are now part of Your family..
In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
God who saves,
For our family, friends, neighbours, those we promised to pray for.
For our fellowship and congregation members, our ministers, servers, wardens.
For our king and His family and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2).
For our Government, advisors, diplomats and ambassadors.
For Ukraine and Russia. As it appears to get worse we look for evil to step too far and ask Your to bring a miracle to end this war with freedom.
For Israel, Lebanon, the Middle East. Countries in conflict.
For Your beautiful church world wide and the many expressions of worship around the world.
For those things heavy on our own hearts so we can invite You to take over.
For us to praise You, Lord from grateful hearts for all You have done, are doing and will do.
In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
Worship Sunday 17th November 2024
Russel Fragar the writer of this worship says, “I became a Christian as a child. The most surprising thing to me at the time was the very real sense that God was living in me: at the time I prayed a prayer inviting Jesus to “live in my heart”. Then as the years went by I collected some extra things and put them in my heart too. There was some unforgiveness, some pride, some fear and other things as well. My heart is an ongoing project but starting is a good step.”
Hear this praises from a grateful heart
Each time I think of You the praises start
Love You so much, Jesus
Love You so much
Lord, I love You, my soul sings
In Your presence carried on Your wings
Love You so much, Jesus
Love You so much
How my soul longs for you
Longs to worship You forever
In Your power and majesty
Lift my hands, lift my heart
Lift my voice towards the heavens
For You are my sun and shield
