“And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “Make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps. 3 When they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 4 But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the divisions of Israel, shall gather to you. 5 When you sound the advance, the camps that lie on the east side shall then begin their journey. 6 When you sound the advance the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall begin their journey; they shall sound the call for them to begin their journeys. 7 And when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but not sound the advance. 8 The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an ordinance forever throughout your generations. 9 “When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from your enemies. 10 Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your God: I am the Lord your God.”” Numbers 10:1-10 NKJV
Lord God,
Silver trumpets. And so many different calls to be clearly identifiable. Did they know who could make a noise and train them? Did they have people proficient on the rams horn who could easily transfer to trumpets? They found which sons of Aaron could make clear sounds, the right ones. They had to be precise to keep the mas of people from confusion. It was imperative that they behave as one body. Moving, stopping, encaping, approaching Moses for revelation from You, feasting or giving offerings.
Sometimes I have prayed, Lord just show me which way to go, or what to do next. No trumpet sounds. Just tell me if I should be feasting or fasting. Should I take time out with You or get involved. No trumpet sounds.
But then I have a relationship with You and Your Holy Spirit resides in me. There are times when I do seem to hear, know what You asr asking me to do. Though I could not always explain how . . . And the times when all is silent I have learned just to continue till I do hear. Which would I prefer? I confess Lord I do not want trumpet to replace You. I do not need u and a trumpet! I take for granted what it cost You to dwell in me. You promise that if I seek You I will find You (Jeremiah 29:13) and be led not pushed (Psalm 23:1-3). And sometimes just have to wait (Isaiah 40:33). Perhaps it is my impatience that sometimes wishes You would tell me now. Sorry Lord.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Worship Friday 13th February 2026
Speak, O Lord, as we come to You
To receive the food of Your holy Word
Take Your truth, plant it deep in us
Shape and fashion us in Your likeness
That the light of Christ might be seen today
In our acts of love and our deeds of faith
Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us
All Your purposes for Your glory
Teach us, Lord, full obedience
Holy reverence, true humility
Test our thoughts and our attitudes
In the radiance of Your purity
Cause our faith to rise, cause our eyes to see
Your majestic love and authority
Words of pow’r that can never fail
Let their truth prevail over unbelief
Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds
Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us
Truths unchanged from the dawn of time
That will echo down through eternity
And by grace, we’ll stand on Your promises
And by faith, we’ll walk as You walk with us
Speak, O Lord, ’til Your church is built
And the earth is filled with Your glory
