“Now, son of man, take a sharp sword and use it as a barber’s razor to shave your head and your beard. Then take a set of scales and divide up the hair. When the days of your siege come to an end, burn a third of the hair inside the city. Take a third and strike it with the sword all around the city. And scatter a third to the wind. For I will pursue them with drawn sword. But take a few hairs and tuck them away in the folds of your garment. Again, take a few of these and throw them into the fire and burn them up. A fire will spread from there to all Israel.” Ezekiel 5:1-4 NIV

Father of all mankind,

What a drama to watch for those who sought Ezekiel out to see what he would do next. To shave in public not just his beard but also his head. Ezekiel was a priest and as such there were rules and laws about not cutting hair and shaving!  “Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the edges of their beards or cut their bodies.” Leviticus 21:5. And shockingly You told Ezekiel to use a sharp sword, not a shaving tool, an implement of violence and war.

You, Lord did not flower over or dilute Your words of warning, judgement and consequences. You, God have not changed. But here in just 15 words You show compassion, faithfulness and salvation.  But take a few hairs and tuck them away in the folds of your garment.

Hope for the listeners and a whisper of what was to come, “ Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. ” Colossians 3:1-3. We are in Christ like those few shaved hairs. Tucked in close to Your heart. Enabled by a cross, another weapon of man, not a sword. Safe from Your judgement Lord because Christ has covered us with His holiness.

Actions speak louder than words. still many ignored Ezekiel’s drama. We thank you God that we are safe from judgement. That thousands, nay millions round the word heeded Jesus action on the cross and cling to You. We earnestly pray Father, You will draw many, many more to Yourself in Christ.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen

Worship Sunday 31st August 2025

Thank you for saving me, what can I say?
You are my everything, I will sing your praise.
You shed your blood for me, what can I say?
You took my sin and shame,
a sinner called by name.

Great is the Lord,
Great is the Lord,
For we know your truth has set us free,
You’ve set your hope in me.

Mercy and grace are mine, forgiven is my sin,
Jesus my only hope, the Saviour of the world.
“Great is the Lord” we cry,
God let your kingdom come,
Your word has let me see,
thank you for saving me!

Chorus . . .

“At the end of seven days the word of the Lord came to me: 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 18 When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. 19 But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.” Ezekiel 3:16-19 NLT

“The hand of the Lord was on me there, and he said to me, “Get up and go out to the plain, and there I will speak to you.” 23 So I got up and went out to the plain. And the glory of the Lord was standing there, like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown. 24 Then the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet. He spoke to me and said: “Go, shut yourself inside your house. 25 And you, son of man, they will tie with ropes; you will be bound so that you cannot go out among the people. 26 I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be silent and unable to rebuke them, for they are a rebellious people. 27 But when I speak to you, I will open your mouth and you shall say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says.’ Whoever will listen let them listen, and whoever will refuse let them refuse; for they are a rebellious people.” Ezekiel 3:22-27 NLT

Lord of Life,

I am spending a little more time in Ezekiel as I read through the Bible this year (Chronologically), because it is full of contradictions, colorful visions and drama and truth. Here in one chapter You call Ezekiel to speak out and within a few verses You silence him. He sees Your glory again and it is so overwhelming he falls facedown again. That is so amazing, so shocking? he falls down as if dead. Not a faint or a staggering fall but a shock face down fall! It takes Your Spirit to revive and strengthen him. Reminding us how great You are and how weak we are. Even the strongest of us.

To be told to shut himself in his house, tie himself up and then be struck dumb by You, Extreme. But then I think Ezekiel was someone interesting who people watched to see what he was doing and saying. A character we would call him.

Perhaps they came to see if he was still silent and then they would hear the message clearly when he spoke. Sometimes it is not volume that has effect. Sometimes silence is valuable and necessary. Lord You had such a close relationship with Ezekiel and he was so obedient. And he was not afraid to be thought a fool for You. And he saw Your glory.

Small as I am, send Your Spirit, the same Spirit You sent to lift Ezekiel, the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead (Romans 8:11) to lift me up and help me hear and follow You.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen

Worship Saturday 30th August 2025

I’m finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it’s okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say

Word of God speak
Would you pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see Your majesty
To be still and know that you’re in this place
Please let me stay and rest in your holiness
Word of God speak

I’m finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice

Word of God speak
Would you pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see Your majesty
To be still and know that you’re in this place
Please let me stay and rest in your holiness
Word of God speak

I’m finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it’s okay

“And He said to me, “Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak to you.” Then the Spirit entered me when He spoke to me, and set me on my feet; and I heard Him who spoke to me. And He said to me: “Son of man, I am sending you to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day. For they are impudent and stubborn children. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ As for them, whether they hear or whether they refuse—for they are a rebellious house—yet they will know that a prophet has been among them. “And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns  are with you and you dwell among scorpions; do not be afraid of their words or dismayed by their looks, though they are a rebellious house. You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse, for they are rebellious. But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”Now when I looked, there was a hand stretched out to me; and behold, a scroll of a book was in it. 10 Then He spread it before me; and there was writing on the inside and on the outside, and written on it were lamentations and mourning and woe.

1Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll. And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness. Jeremiah 2:1-3:3 NKJV

Lord God,

You came and You met with Ezekiel on Your terms and told him what you called him to do. I have longed to know what You wanted me to do clearly. Often it is more a finding things in front of me that need doding and no-one else wants to . . .But then there is a draw back to receiving Your specific instructions. You do not promise him any success quite the opposite. Non of his business if no-one heed’s him. It will be difficult, he will be opposed as if by briars and thorns! He must not be afraid! Yet we are told it tastes sweet like honey. A precious sweetness in his day.

A good lesson to learn, the reward is not always in the outcome. But doing what You want and not what we think you might like. Help us not to be worried about outcomes. How many people will come to the event. How many people might open their hearts to You . . . we do not know what miracles You are beginning to work and some need time. And some are so they cannot say but no-one told me. Serving You is a privilege. Your words are sweet to the taste.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Charity Gale says,”As we wrote this song, it became a sweet balm to my soul. His goodness is everlasting and His Word is sweeter than the honey from the honeycomb. May it remind you on your best days and worst ones that God is good – so good.” (Psalm 19:7-10)

I know a good God
I have a Father
He is my daily bread my living water
I have a promise He will deliver
I’m satisfied I’m satisfied
‘Cause He is good

And from the mountain to the valley
He is good
On my best days and worst ones
He is good
And from glory to glory
He is good
Oh taste and see
That He is good
I’m satisfied I’m satisfied
Cause He is good

I know a good God
I have a Father
He is my daily bread my living water
I have a promise He will deliver
I’m satisfied I’m satisfied
‘Cause He is good

From the mountain to the valley
He is good
On my best days and worst ones
He is good
And from glory to glory
He is good
Oh taste and see
That He is good
I’m satisfied I’m satisfied
Cause He is good

I know that the Lord is good
I have a testimony of His goodness

He is sweeter than the honey
From the honeycomb
My God is sweeter than the honey
From the Honeycomb
So sweet he is
sweeter than the honey from the honeycomb
sweeter than the honey from the honeycomb
Taste and see that He is
sweeter than the honey from the honeycomb

Jesus is the sweetest name
I’ve ever known
Jesus is the sweetest name
I’ve ever known
Taste and see that He is

repeat . . . .

From the mountain to the valley
He is good
On my best days and worst ones
He is good
And from glory to glory
He is good
Oh taste and see
That He is good
I’m satisfied I’m satisfied
Cause He is good
