Sunday 27th July 2025

“But as for me, I am filled with power—with the Spirit of the Lord.
I am filled with justice and strength to boldly declare Israel’s sin and rebellion.
Listen to me, you leaders of Israel! You hate justice and twist all that is right.
10 You are building Jerusalem on a foundation of murder and corruption.
11 You rulers make decisions based on bribes; you priests teach God’s laws only for a price;
you prophets won’t prophesy unless you are paid. Yet all of you claim to depend on the Lord.
“No harm can come to us,” you say, “for the Lord is here among us.”” Micah 3:8-11 NLT

Lord,

We return to Micah speaking much as Isaiah did to Judah and Jerusalem but also to Israel. Faithfully giving Your Word. And I sit and think well that was the past and now we have the church and it is easy to become complacent.

We are still the same hard hearted sinners as they were. I can think of times when I did not want to sit and listen to the advice of others. I have not twisted the truth per say but have tried to make it fit my opinion . . . and sometimes we think we are the only ones who hear You Lord on some matter. Alas.

How often are there disputes in church because there is an unwillingness to listen to each other and respect a different view. Then when we decide something we ask You Lord to bless it. Rather than hearing from You and asking if we can help?

Today is Sunday a day of worship and learning and listening and coming humbly to remember Your Sons broken body and shed blood. Help us to keep the main thing the main thing. We want to following You, Lord together in the power of Your Spirit.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship 27th July 2025

This we believe
That we have a Father
Creator who was and who is and will be
Who sent us His Son
And poured out His Spirit
With power to heal, resurrect, and redeem
The song of the saints forever will be

Glory to God the Father
Glory to Christ the Risen One
All hail the King
With Heaven sing
Hallelujah

This we believe
That we have a Savior
Jesus the Christ for our sin crucified
Oh yes, we believe
That on the third morning
Gone was the stone for He rose back to life
Forever He reigns let His praise fill the skies

Chorus

Amen, amen, amen, Hallelujah

We believe in the saving gospel
We believe in the living word
We believe in the Holy Spirit
Moving in His Holy Church
We believe in the King of Heaven
We believe that Jesus is coming again
Hallelujah, amen

We believe in the blood that washes
We believe in the cross that saves
We believe that the curse is broken
Buried in that borrowed grave
We believe in the resurrection
We believe that Jesus is coming again
Hallelujah, amen
Hallelujah

Chorus
Amen, amen, amen
Hallelujah
Amen, amen, amen
Hallelujah, amen

This we believe
Our King is returning
And He will wipe every tear from our eyes
Our crowns at His feet
His throne at the center
The song of the saints forever will rise
Amen

“A highway shall be there, and a road,
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool,
Shall not go astray.
No lion shall be there,
Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it;
It shall not be found there.
But the redeemed shall walk there,
10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return,
And come to Zion with singing,
With everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness,
And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”
Isaiah 35:8-10 NKJ

God and Shepherd,

I read this and see Your people coming back from exile in their future maybe on return from to rebuild the Temple in the time of Ezra and Nehemiah. Coming home to their beloved Jerusalem with great joy. And yet it has so much more to say?

The picture of the highway gives us a view of a road we have not yet fully seen? When we go walking and find the well trodden trail it is great, but when we are lost and find a real road with signposts we know we are on our way home. Thank you that You do signpost our way. Isaiah speaks of those thought foolish but who are not. Is he speaking of those who will believe in Jesus who ransoms from sin and death Those who will bow their knee to Jesus as Lord who will be allowed to walk on His holy road? Many do think us believers foolish. Isaiah speaks of a time when there will be no more sorrow, sighing, fear of death and wild beasts but much singing, joy and gladness.

We do walk the road of holiness with Jesus as He leads us now – but Isaiah tells us there will be a time when we clearly see the way like a great highway sweeping before us and filled with others who believe like us. Those who have chosen You as their God and will walk in harmony and worship together. One yet to come leading to a new heaven and a new earth? A timeless message.

Proverbs 3:6 reminds us to simply, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

In Jesus name we pray, Amen

Worship Saturday 26th July 2025

Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return,
And come with singing unto Zion;
And everlasting joy shall be upon their head.

Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return,
And come with singing unto Zion;
And everlasting joy shall be upon their head.

They shall obtain gladness and joy;
And sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

“The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God. Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.”

Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert. The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.”
Isaiah 35:1-7 NIV

God of Judah,

How incredible that spoke about his own generations and what was to come. Speaking about future invasions, telling them to be strong and not fearful because You, God would once more rescue them. And then spoke into the distant future. In Matthew Gospel we read that John the Baptist was having a bad day imprisoned by Herod. He needed some assurance that Jesus was the Messiah. Jesus did not say Yes I am, He sent his reply in the Quoting Isaiah.. One John would recognise and see was being fulfilled in Jesus. “The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.” (Matthew 11:5).

How amazing. Scripture was fulfilled in Jesus and John knew his life had not been spent in vain. Sad that John was then executed but glorious that he knew he had fulfilled his calling even though his life was taken from him. How wonderful to see glimpses of Jesus in Isaiah yet again.

Isaiah’s message has glimpses of days yet to come when there will be gladness and joy. Amidst the judgements he had to give, Isaiah saw that You, God long to find ways to restore and bless us in abundance. Lord we look to You to keep us looking forward with joy and gladness and hope even when like Isaiah we see a troubled world around us.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Henry the writer of these lyrics understood that we don’t always start worship feeling on top of the world and need lifting up into the light.

Joyful, joyful, we adore You,
God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flow’rs before You,
Op’ning to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
Drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day!

All Your works with joy surround You,
Earth and heav’n reflect Your rays,
Stars and angels sing around You,
Center of unbroken praise;
Field and forest, vale and mountain,
Flow’ry meadow, flashing sea,
Chanting bird and flowing fountain
Praising You eternally!

Always giving and forgiving,
Ever blessing, ever blest,
Well-spring of the joy of living,
Ocean-depth of happy rest!
Loving Father, Christ our Brother,
Let Your light upon us shine;
Teach us how to love each other,
Lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the mighty chorus,
Which the morning stars began;
God’s own love is reigning o’er us,
Joining people hand in hand.
Ever singing, march we onward,
Victors in the midst of strife;
Joyful music leads us sunward
In the triumph song of life.
