Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly.
He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel.
The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever.
10 He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. 12 He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. Psalm 103:1-12

Oh Lord,

On a grey cold November day when all the news seems to be about trouble, trauma and mankind’s sinfulness, I, we need to You and some good news. I don’t always feel up to long Bible passages or deep theological understanding. This psalm lifts my spirit. It is a burst of enthusiasm and points us to heaven. Written by a grateful King, David who suffered from the same old sin and national traumas himself, 3,000 years ago. You forgave, rescued and encouraged him both as young shepherd, a harpist and King.

Thank you that we can know all the benefits of your salvation. Real good news! Not just forgiveness, but being made a new creation in Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17). The old is gone the new is come. You are our heavenly Father who gives us good and perfect gifts. (James 1:17 and Matthew 7:11).

Remind us that when we wait upon you, you renew our strength, allowing us to soar on wings of faith like eagles and not grow weary or faint. Promised by Isaiah in 40:31 as well as in this Psalm. David saw right to the heart of You, God, righteous and yet merciful.

Help us see too as we read this Psalm. One day, the kingdom of this world will become your kingdom, and, You will reign for ever and ever. Hallelujah. (Revelation 7:15) Lift our spirits to see Your generosity and good news in Jesus.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Generous God,

For our family, friends, neighbours, those we promised to pray for.
For our fellowship and congregation members, our ministers, servers, wardens.
For our king and His family and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2). Local Council.
For our Government, advisors, diplomats and ambassadors.
For Ukraine and Russia. We continue to look to You for an end to war..
For Israel, Lebanon, the Middle East.
For worship leaders and writers to be inspired with new and to update Christian music.
For those struggling with mental health, suicide and low feelings. Bless those on help lines.
For our community, a turning to the real meaning of Christmas.
For the endless good that is done daily by Your people, the church, locally. Bless Your servants.
For us, lighten and lift our spirits to be reassured and see You are at work in our world, land, lives.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Oh Lord, my God, when I, in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
.

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration
And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art

Lyrics: Stuart K. Hine
