Welcome

““Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would not permit his house to be broken into. 40 You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” 41 Peter asked, “Lord, is that illustration just for us or for everyone?”

42 And the Lord replied, “A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. 43 If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. 44 I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns. 45 But what if the servant thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’ and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk? 46 The master will return unannounced and unexpected, and he will cut the servant in pieces and banish him with the unfaithful. 47 “And a servant who knows what the master wants, but isn’t prepared and doesn’t carry out those instructions, will be severely punished. 48 But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.”” Luke 12:39-48 NIV

Lord and Master,

It is good to jump back a few chapters from yesterday and remember Jesus gave us warnings that we cannot blame others for not knowing what we should be doing. We should know and be self aware. A faithful servant makes sure he is doing what he was asked, behaving as he was charged to do and doing what the master wants because it is right, good and His service for His master.

But You are a good God You are not an waiting to catch us out or to trip us up, or say I knew you would let me down. But You do say that You will punish those who know and do not do . . . For those of us willing and trying, You God are glad to catch us doing good, willing to forgive where we trip up and only expecting us to do what is humanly possible. Because then You can step in and help doing the divine and the miraculous.

You know when we are burned out and need to be enfolded. You know when we need a nudge to be brave and You know when we need a little more oil in our lamp. So keep us willing and not numbered with those not prepared to do what a servant should do. And not judge them but be encouragers. And not get puffed up about how good we are, as we read in Luke 17:10, “‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.’”

In Jesus name we pray.

Worship Wednesday 5th November 2025
The verses not included are written underneath the lyrics below.

O to be like Thee! Blessed Redeemer,
this is my constant longing and prayer;
gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Oh! to be like Thee! O to be like Thee,
blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art!
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

O to be like Thee! Full of compassion,
loving, forgiving, tender, and kind;
helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
seeking the wand’ring sinner to find.

Chorus

O to be like Thee! Lowly in spirit,
holy and harmless, patient, and brave;
meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
willing to suffer, others to save.

Chorus

Lyrics: Thomas O Chisholm

Verses not included but worth praying . . .

O to be like Thee! Lord, I am coming
now to receive the anointing divine;
all that I am and have I am bringing,
Lord, from this moment all shall be Thine.

O to be like Thee! While I am pleading,
pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love;
make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
fit me for life and heaven above. [Refrain]

“After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.” Luke 10:1-6 NIV

“The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”” Luke 10:17 NIV

 “Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”” Luke 10:23,24 NIV

Lord of the harvest,

Yes, we need to pray for workers in the harvest field. To be called and for those serving. And we were probably prayed in by someone somewhere.! So we too go armed to harvest with peace and trust that You will give a harvest. You are a faithful God and when we read the history of the church despite attack, error and sin it has grown incredibly! You God warn us that there will always be those who reject You but we should not take it personally as they are not rejecting us but Jesus (Luke 20:16).

What a privilege it is to live it a time after the resurrection and before Jesus comes again. Sometimes I do not really appreciate it and I do not really expect Jesus to come tomorrow or in my life time. I need You to help me believe like the 72 disciples sent out I will see a harvest fields around me. That the same Spirit is with me, as was with them, and this is the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead (Romans 8:11). Help me keep my joy even if there are those who are not interested, mildly interested or out right rejecting the good news. Joy and peace so I do not become disillusioned, disheartened or distracted.

You know where the is good soil is. Which hearts are ready and You know how to water and protect that seed and give it life. I repent that my enthusiasm wains, I am easily put off witnessing and I think of what I could have said afterwards! Help us Lord, help me Lord. Come great Spirit come and revive us, fill our mouths and hearts with Your words of love.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Tuesday 4th November 2024

Here I am, wholly available as for me, I will serve the Lord.
Here I am, wholly available as for me, I will serve the Lord.

The fields are white unto harvest
but oh, the labourers are so few;
so, Lord, I give myself to help the reaping,
to gather precious souls unto You.

Here I am, wholly available as for me, I will serve the Lord.

The time is right in the nation
for works of power and authority;
God’s looking for a people who are willing
to be counted in His glorious victory.

Here I am, wholly available as for me, I will serve the Lord.

As salt are we ready to savour,
in darkness are we ready to be light?
God’s seeking out a very special people
to manifest His truth and His might.

Here I am, wholly available as for me, I will serve the Lord.
Here I am, wholly available as for me, I will serve the Lord.

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. 12 “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13 And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14 In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.” Matthew 18:10-14 NIV

Father in Heaven,

We all , well most of us will admit we have had times when we have felt weak or vulnerable or both. This is a parable to reassure us that when we do have these times, the good Shepherd, who knows his sheep, sees and come to draw us back to himself and the safety of the flock. Whether we have gone a little way or far . . .

And the flock should not despise someone who is struggling but should welcome them in too. It is easy just to mix with the crowd we are comfortable with. But we need to look out for those struggling.

And we should not be distracted by the picture of angels. It is not the angels who look for the wandering it is the Shepherd Himself, You Lord God. You are a compassionate Shepherd which reassures us, You are a strong rescuer which gives us security, You are a Shepherd who does the finding Yourself so we know You love us individually.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Monday 3rd November 2025

When I fear my faith will fail
Christ will hold me fast
When the tempter would prevail
He will hold me fast
I could never keep my hold
Through life’s fearful path
For my love is often cold
He must hold me fast

He will hold me fast
He will hold me fast
For my Savior loves me so
He will hold me fast

Those He saves are His delight
Christ will hold me fast
Precious in His holy sight
He will hold me fast
He’ll not let my soul be lost
His promises shall last
Bought by Him at such a cost
He will hold me fast

Chorus

For my life He bled and died
Christ will hold me fast
Justice has been satisfied
He will hold me fast
Raised with Him to endless life
He will hold me fast
Till our faith is turned to sight
When he comes at last

Chorus and Repeat
