“Then David arose and fled that day from before Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. 11 And the servants of Achish said to him, “Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of him to one another in dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands’?” 12 Now David took these words to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. 13 So he changed his behavior before them, pretended madness in their hands, scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall down on his beard. 14 Then Achish said to his servants, “Look, you see the man is insane. Why have you brought him to me? 15 Have I need of madmen, that you have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? Shall this fellow come into my house?”” 1 Samuel 21:10-15 NKJV
God of wisdom,
We have a saying about person , he or she is nobody’s fool. Meaning a clever, perceptive person who cannot be easily tricked, manipulated, or taken advantage of by anyone. It indicates someone is street-smart, discerning, and not naive.
David is learning to be wise, when to run and hide and when to confront,as he does with Saul in the cave (1 Samuel 24:8-15). But here he actually pretends to be a fool, a mad man. And so well that they believe him and he was able to bo on to the caves of Adullam.
He kept himself and his men safe for another day. He was not afraid to look foolish or be called names. He did not worry abut his reputation. That would be restored if Your will Lord. And You knew he was of good heart. It is hard not to be upset when people misrepresent us or we hear have said unkind things or do not thank us. It may hurt our pride but You fill our heart and see and know all. Help us rise above pettiness and self sympathy! And help us just look forward to what is next. David did and he was still in troubled times.
n Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Based on Psalm 37 a Psalm of David. The Temple had not been built in David’s day, he was talking about Your presence. Another new song (2022?).
I fix my eyes on You
The author of my faith
Casting aside
Every sin and every weight
I fix my eyes on You
I lay my burdens down
Letting the cares
Of this world now fade away
One thing I ask
This one thing I seek
That I may dwell in Your house
O Lord my King
All the days of my life
I want to gaze upon Your beauty
And seek You in this holy place
