“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out knowledge and discretion.
13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength.
15 By me kings reign,And rulers decree justice.
16 By me princes rule, and nobles,All the judges of the earth.
17 I love those who love me,And those who seek me diligently will find me.
18 Riches and honour are with me, Enduring riches and righteousness.
19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, And my revenue than choice silver.
20 I traverse the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice,
21 That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, That I may fill their treasuries.” Proverbs 8:12-21

God of the Trinity,

Reading this we are transported not to a manual on becoming wise but to a picture of wisdom as a person. A brief image of the person to come. Jesus, the Word of God and the wisdom of God seen in the New Testament.

“but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:24
“But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:30

This is what is foretells of Him: By Him kings reign (8:15) Jesus loves those who love Him and will be found by those who seek Him (8:17) Eternal riches and righteousness come from Him (8:18) His fruit and revenue and better than gold (8:19). His path is the way of righteousness and justice (8:20). And those who love him will be wealthy not in cash but surely with the knowledge and wisdom of Him (8:21).

We glimpse the promise of wisdom to come who walked with us and lived among us and showed us Yourself in human form. Not just a good man. But You God, humble and seeking only to serve. What a window from the Old Testament giving a glimpse of the New. Thank You for the truth of Your Word and that we have seen the fulfilment.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
