“Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the Lord with the harp; make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy. For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.” Psalm 33:1-9 NKJV

Creator and LOrd God,

As we whizz through the Bible this year it is good to just stop and wonder at the awesomeness of creation. But more important to stop and not wonder but worship the awesomeness of the creator. Lest we make creation an idol. To wonder at You sovereignty and beauty. I see the photographs others take of wildlife and even just the scenic photos shown with the weather on TV and marvel at what You started and have stood by. I am grateful not just for their ability to catch the moment but the ability to see the minuti of creation and the way it all works together. And that makes me then more grateful for a creative God who made life so colourful, complicated and inspiring.

It is easy to praise You for all that we see and that gives us a sense of wonder. But how often are we brought to a halt and just wonder at You. Our God who is beyond comprehension and yet reveals HImself to us in a million ways daily. Let us not be sidetracked by what You made and continue to create – but worship You for the beauty, wonder and awesomeness of who You are.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Wednesday 1st July 2026

O God beyond all praising, we worship you today
and sing the love amazing that songs cannot repay;
for we can only wonder at every gift you send,
at blessings without number and mercies without end:
we lift our hearts before you and wait upon your word,
we honour and adore you, our great and mighty Lord.

The flower of earthly splendor in time must surely die,
its fragile bloom surrender to you, the Lord most high;
but hidden from all nature the eternal seed is sown
though small in mortal stature, to heaven’s garden grown:
for Christ the man from heaven from death has set us free,
and we through him are given the final victory!

Then hear, O gracious Saviour, accept the love we bring,
that we who know your favour may serve you as our king;
and whether our tomorrows be filled with good or ill,
we’ll triumph through our sorrows and rise to bless you still:
to marvel at your beauty and glory in your ways,
and make a joyful duty our sacrifice of praise.

Lyrics: Michael Perry (1942 – 1996)
