“Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel! 7 The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, 8 if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. 9 And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, 10 if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it. 11 “Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now everyone from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.” ’ ” 12 And they said, “That is hopeless! So we will walk according to our own plans, and we will everyone obey the dictates of his evil heart.”” Jeremiah 18:5-12 NKJV
Father God,
The potter is the one with all the power to create, to shape or to destroy. The clay can be rejected or be remade. You in Your mercy called them to put an end to their evil ways and return to You so You could refashion them with a good future instead of a disaster. But they had selective hearing and just sulked like a people with no options! Hopeless, we may as well just go on with our own way even if we are useless and destined for disaster. What’s their problem?
I have a great respect for Jeremiah, his longsuffering, his dedication to saying the same thing in so many different ways. Trying to get their attention back on Your ways God. Your everlasting love for Your nation and people is clear. I wonder if I pray for my nation with as much fervour and determination as Jeremiah did. Or do I think it is hopeless? Not that my Nation is any more important than another – but it is where You have placed me Lord God. Mould and shape me into what I should be, accepting that things can change if we seek You.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

It had to be this. Our holy calling . . .
Beautiful Lord, wonderful saviour
I know for sure, all of my days are held in Your hands
Crafted into Your perfect plan
You gently call me, into Your presence
Guiding me by, Your Holy Spirit
Teach me dear Lord
To live all of my life through Your eyes
I’m captured by, Your Holy calling
Set me apart
I know You’re drawing me to Yourself
Lead me Lord I pray
Take me and Mold me, Use me, Fill me
I give my life to the Potter’s hands
Hold me, Guide me, Lead me, Walk beside me
I give my life to the Potter’s hand
You gently call me, into Your presence
Guiding me by, Your Holy Spirit
Teach me dear Lord
To live all of my life through Your eyes
I’m captured by, Your Holy calling
Set me apart
I know You’re drawing me to Yourself
Lead me Lord I pray
Take me and Mold me, Use me, Fill me
I give my life to the Potter’s hands
Call me, Guide me, Lead me, Walk beside me
I give my life to the Potter’s hand
Call me, Guide me, Lead me, Walk beside me
I give my life to the Potter’s hand
