“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! 13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ 15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the Pit.” Isaiah 14:12-15
God Almighty,
This is one of those passages where I can see both sides of the suggested meanings. Lucifer could be translated as sining one or Day star and refer to the King of Babylon who sees himself in his own glory. Or it could be a reference to Lucifer who we read of in Revelation 12:9 and was hurled down with all his angels. It does come in Isaiah’s chapter on the fall of the King of Babylon. But with all prophetic scripture, sometimes they captured more than they know about the far future. Isaiah has many passages pointing so clearly to the birth of the Saviour.
So perhaps this is where I need to hold the two truths at the same time. Historically and futuristic. There is always more to Your word Lord God than we first realise. How often I have found a verse that speaks to me in my time as if You were saying it personally now Lord God. And I am so grateful that You gave us not a novel or a history book but Your Word inspired by Your Holy Spirit. When I open the Bible. please inspire me with its truth and, with what I need to know for today. You do bring down evil in Your time Lord. And Lucifer is just a fallen angel, angry, evil but not in control. Keep our eyes on You.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Well I had to look it up as I like to know wha I am singing! A bulwark is a defensive wall, rampart, or any strong person, thing, or idea that provides protection, safety, or support against danger, loss, or harm. Wow.
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
our helper he, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe does seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing,
were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing.
You ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth his name, from age to age the same;
and he must win the battle.
And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God has willed his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure, for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.
That Word above all earthly powers no thanks to them abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours through him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
the body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever!
