“The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying, 2 “Please inquire of the Lord for us, for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us. Perhaps the Lord will deal with us according to all His wonderful works, that the king may go away from us.” 3 Then Jeremiah said to them, “Thus you shall say to Zedekiah, 4 ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who besiege you outside the walls; and I will assemble them in the midst of this city. 5 I Myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger and fury and great wrath.” Jeremiah 21:1-5 NKJV

Awesome and Mighty God,

Ten years after Daniel and the leadership has been taken into exile, the Chaldeans (A tribe of the Babylonians) return to attack Jerusalem. They lay siege around it walls. King Zedekiah is naturally afraid, mainly for himself maybe? He asks Jeremiah for prophecy as the other prophets are silent. Having been proved wrong in the past.

Jeremiah does not give him any options this time as You, God are not going to. This time Jeremiah warns him that even You, God, will fight against him and Jerusalem. They knew what we are told in the New Testament (Hebrews 10:31), “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. The Psalmist says, “I made haste, and did not delay to keep Your commandments.” (119:60) He rushed not out of fear but because he wanted to serve You. A God of mercy and generosity.

So Lord, Am I afraid of You? Yes I think there is a little awesome fear as You are almighty, the Creator and Holy One and I am sinful. But You are also my Saviour, my Redeemer and my friend. I want to show my gratitude by doing what is right in Your sight. With no delay? Judgement and mercy. We deserve the one and You grant us the other – if we choose You and Your way.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

A simple chorsu I like to sneak in once a year or so. It so reassures and blesses me.

There’s a wideness in God’s mercy
That is wider than the deepest sea
And so I know it covers even me.
There’s a depth to His compassion
That is deeper than I’ll understand
And so my life is safe within His hands.

His love is deep enough for me
To cause these blinded eyes to see
To set this lowly captive free from sin.
His grace is flowing from above
Reflected in the Saviour’s love
O precious Father help me take it in.

Repeat

“This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after King Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people who were at Jerusalem to proclaim liberty to them: 9 that every man should set free his male and female slave—a Hebrew man or woman—that no one should keep a Jewish brother in bondage. 10 Now when all the princes and all the people, who had entered into the covenant, heard that everyone should set free his male and female slaves, that no one should keep them in bondage anymore, they obeyed and let them go. 11 But afterward they changed their minds and made the male and female slaves return, whom they had set free, and brought them into subjection as male and female slaves.” Jeremiah 34:8-11 NKJV

Father, Lord of freedom,

I wonder which is worse? Forgetting that they should not make permanent slaves of their own people or deciding to put it right and free them and then not doing it? I don’t think that is even a valid question. Sin is sin. But it is a symptom of their not following You, and actually rejecting Your law and in the same breath rejecting Your protection and provision. I am sure if they looked at their history they would see that the two things went together. Their faithfulness to You God and Your protection. When all the first born of the Egyptians died they all lived and walked free. When their faith in You lead them through deep water and destroyed the chasing army. When they survived starving and dying of thirst in the wilderness by Your provision of manna and water. Though they did sin from time to time . . .You God showed your faithfulness.

And today we need to know Your faithfulness as we still sin.. “if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:8-9) Help us to be truly free. Keep us from double mindedness, honest, humble and walking in You and in Your forgiveness.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see

Singing hallelujah, there’s no chains on me
Thank you, Jesus, You have set me free
You welcomed me in, called me by name
Was dead in my sin, now I’m dancing on that grave
Hallelujah, it really is amazing grace
It really is

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

Chorus
It really is, it really is amazing grace

I’ll testify of what He did
He gave me life, I’m born again
My heart is free, my soul is saved
It really is amazing grace
I’ll testify of what He did
He gave me life, I’m born again
My heart is free, my soul is saved
It really is amazing grace

It really is (it really is), it really is
It really is amazing grace
It really is (it really is), it really is
Sing hallelujah

Hallelujah, there’s no chains on me
Thank you, Jesus, You have set me free
You welcomed me in, called me by name
Was dead in my sin, now I’m dancing on that grave
Hallelujah, it really is amazing grace

It really is It really is amazing grace
It really is, oh, it really is It really is amazing grace, hey!

““Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll. 3 And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness. 4 Then He said to me: “Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them. 5 For you are not sent to a people of unfamiliar speech and of hard language, but to the house of Israel, 6 not to many people of unfamiliar speech and of hard language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely, had I sent you to them, they would have listened to you. 7 But the house of Israel will not listen to you, because they will not listen to Me; for all the house of Israel are impudent and hard-hearted. 8 Behold, I have made your face strong against their faces, and your forehead strong against their foreheads. 9 Like adamant stone, harder than flint, I have made your forehead; do not be afraid of them, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.”” Ezekiel 3:1-9 NKJV

Father God,

This did seem a hard thing to ask. To go and not expect anyone to listen. But then You promised to provide Ezekiel with Your Words, and Your strength of character, an inner strength even hardness to be able to keep on speaking to them. It reminds me that Jesus called us to preach the gospel.

You send us out as workers into the harvest field (Matthew 9:38) the harvest is provided and ripened by Yourself. We cannot take any of the glory and we cannot tell who will listen. Jesus spoke about the sower scattering seeds (Matthew 13:1-23. Only some fell on good soil. Only You God can read the heart. We are meant to just faithfully sow. We do not always know which seed may take years of watering to grow. And though You said the road is narrow and the gate small that leads to life (Matthew 7:14), we marvel at the church that will worship today around our nation, our world. Bless the Ezekiel’s who get knocked down, mocked and ignored but who still talk about You and Your Son and Your Spirit. Give me courage and flint!?

In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Worship Sunday 26th July 2026

I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
Over every heart and every mind
‘Cause I know there is peace within Your presence
I speak Jesus

I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
‘Til every dark addiction starts to break
Declaring there is hope and there is freedom
I speak Jesus

‘Cause Your name is power
Your name is healing
Your name is life
Break every stronghold
Shine through the shadows
Burn like a fire

I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
Over fear and all anxiety
To every soul held captive by depression
I speak Jesus

Chorus

Shout Jesus from the mountains
Jesus in the streets
Jesus in the darkness, over every enemy
Jesus for my family
I speak the holy name
Jesus,

Repeat twice

I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
Over every heart and every mind
‘Cause I know there is peace within Your presence
I speak Jesus
