“You shall make an altar to burn incense on; you shall make it of acacia wood. 2 A cubit shall be its length and a cubit its width—it shall be square—and two cubits shall be its height. Its horns shall be of one piece with it. 3 And you shall overlay its top, its sides all around, and its horns with pure gold; and you shall make for it a moulding of gold all around. 4 Two gold rings you shall make for it, under the moulding on both its sides. You shall place them on its two sides, and they will be holders for the poles with which to bear it. 5 You shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. 6 And you shall put it before the veil that is before the ark of the Testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the Testimony, where I will meet with you. 7 “Aaron shall burn on it sweet ncense every morning; when he tends the lamps, he shall burn incense on it. 8 And when Aaron lights the lamps at twilight, he shall burn incense on it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations.” Exodus 30:1-8 NKJV

Our Father,

At the beginning of their journey to the promised land the children of Israel received the 10 commandments and were instructed to built a portable Temple and all that was needed for worship. To keep their focus and attention on who was really in charge and worthy of their worship. We are reminded by Paul, in the New Testament, that You God now dwell within us by Your Holy Spirit and we have become Your Temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). Remind us that You are still God and the only one worthy of our worship.

You placed great importance on burning incense on the altar every morning and again at twilight, giving a perpetual aroma. And no one else could use that particular aroma. The Psalmist says in 141:2 “Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” The Old Testament points to the New. We are no longer outside the Holy of Holies offering incense. Jesus opened the way to know You personally God. (Hebrews 10:19-23). We need to offer up out worship.

We need to focus on You as we journey home. To remind ourselves who really is in charge and worthy of our worship. So our lives become like a sweet fragrance. A sweet-smelling incense offered by Christ to You, God, which spreads among the saved and the lost ( 2 Corinthians:14-15). Keeping us sweet. This is a perfume I want and need to be in the world every day Father God.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen

I haven’t heard this for a while. Psalm 113:1,2. Simple and profound.

From the rising of the sun
to the going down of the same,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.
From the rising of the sun
to the going down of the same,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.

Praise yea the Lord
Praise Him all ye servants of the Lord
Praise the name of the Lord.
Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forever more

From the rising of the sun
to the going down of the same,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.
From the rising of the sun
to the going down of the same,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.

Praise yea the Lord
Praise Him all ye servants of the Lord
Praise the name of the Lord.
Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forever more

“Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. 19 Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.” 20 And Moses said to the people, “Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.” 21 So the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was.“” Exodus 20:18-21 NKJV

All Powerful God,

One man has learned that God’s way is best. Moses draws near when You call, God, but the children of Israel back off. They had all witnessed the same plagues in Egypt. All been protected form them while the Egyptians suffered. All seen the angel of death pass over their houses when the first born Egyptians were killed. All seen the waters part at the Red Sea and actually walked through on dry land. They had all seen the Egyptians drowned.

They were all gathering their miraculous daily bread in the wilderness and had seen water spring from a rock when they were thirsty.

Yet they drew back and Moses drew near. And they preferred to hide behind Moses skirts so to speak and let him do all the talking to You. They did not want a relationship with You God. They just wanted someone to take the responsibility and enjoy all the benefits..

Today Lord, sometimes it is the same with us. We want to sit back and enjoy all the benefits. But You, God want to be with us every minute of the day for our good.. You want a personal relationship with each one of us. Not for harm or to punish or to fill us with fear from thunderings. But in Jesus to be able to step forward and take responsibility for our own walk with You. So we can know You, our heavenly Father (1 John 3:1) and how good You are (James 1:17). And because of Jesus we need not be afraid (Luke 12:32). We can know You in all Your fulness..

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Wednesday 28th January 2026

Oh, I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think You’re like
But I’ve heard the tender whisper of love in the dead of night
And You tell me that You’re pleased
And that I’m never alone

You’re a good good Father
It’s who You are, It’s who You are
And I’m loved by You
It’s who I am, It’s who I am, It’s who I am

Oh, I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching, for answers only You provide
Cause You know just what we need
Before we say a word

Chorus: You’re a good good Father . . .

Cause You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways to us, aah
You are perfect in all of Your ways
Oh, you’re perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways to us

Oh, it’s love so undeniable, I, I can hardly speak
Peace so unexplainable, I, I can hardly think
As You call me deeper still, as You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still
Into love, love, love

Chorus: You’re a good good Father . . .

” Then the Lord said to Moses, 2 “Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon.   Pharaoh will think, ‘The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.’ 4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord. “ So the Israelites did this.” Exodus 14:1-4 NKJV

“ Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground,  with a wall of water on their right and on their left. 23 The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea. 24 During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion. 25 He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.” 26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” Exodus 14:21-26 NKJV

Lord God Almighty,

You told Moses to tell the Israelites to turn back and camp by the sea! They must have thought him mad. Reversing towards the enemy and cut off by an expanse of water. There comes a time when we just have to trust You know best. And You did. There was a pillar of cloud to guide and they obeyed! I am sure it did not stop them muttering and complaining as they did all the rest of the way.

Following not just saved them it removed the problem completely. It did not take away the challenge before them but the threat behind them. Lord God help us to keep looking forward to where You would lead us and not be overwhelmed by the challenges ahead. Remove any threats we have from behind and watch our backs as You did for the Israelites.

You can open the way forward when it is the right time and you lead and do not push. The enemy pushes us and makes us feel trapped. When You say forward, that is when we need to move. So help us know and recognise Your voice in whatever way it comes. Jesus told us we would know His voice and so we stand on that promise and listen. (John 10:27).

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Wednesday 28th January 2026
Sometimes worship needs to be a familiar rousing tune and well known words.

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty,
Hold me with Thy pow’rful hand.
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through.
Strong Deliv’rer, strong Deliv’rer,
Be Thou still my Strength and Shield;
Be Thou still my Strength and Shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death and hell’s Destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan’s side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to Thee;
I will ever give to Thee.
