““I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished! 51 Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. 52 For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. 53 Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”54 Then He also said to the multitudes, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is. 55 And when you see the south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and there is. 56 Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?”” Luke 12:49-53 KJV

Almighty God,

Some passages are harder to get to grips with but I don’t like just passing over them. I wonder if You were initially speaking about the fire of judgement that would first fall on You, because of our sin? Till You are crucified, dead and buried. Your baptism was about the forgiving of sin on our behalf. It was not about how deserving we are or about reward. It is the punishment that cancels sin. It is sad that the taking up of Your forgiveness will bring division. Dividing those who cannot believe in You, from those who accept You. But division is not what Jesus is highlighting but choice?

The world has gone on refusing to see the signs of the times. Global warming and poisoned rivers and unusual weather causing death and destruction around the world. Man is trying to fix it – or not as the case may be. No-one really understand the times as we ought Lord so we come to You and often feel helpless. But reading Your words we have hope. You said it would continue till You come again!

Division seems to be a remaining part of the fall. The givers and the takers. Not all givers believe in You. But I hold on to the truth that the Day of the Lord will come as promised (Revelation 19:11,17). There will be a new earth and a new heaven (Revelation 21:1). Meanwhile I joy in knowing You Jesus every day. Help us share Your gift of life and the promise of a future to whoever will choose to listen.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen

Repeating this hymn by Matt Redman from a month ago. Below the lyris is a joyful hymn to celebrate all we have in Jesus now. To bring a balance to faith! Now and forever.

One day You’ll make everything new, Jesus
One day You will bind every wound
The former things shall all pass away
No more tears
One day You’ll make sense of it all, Jesus
One day every question resolved
Every anxious thought left behind
No more fear

When we all get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all see Jesus We’ll sing and shout the victory

One day we will see face to face, Jesus
Is there a greater vision of grace
And in a moment, we shall be changed
On that day
And one day we’ll be free, free indeed, Jesus
One day all this struggle will cease
And we will see Your glory revealed
On that day

Chorus

One day we will see face to face, Jesus
Is there a greater vision of grace
And in a moment, we shall be changed
And in a moment, we shall be changed
On that day

Chorus
