“Go to the ant, you sluggard!
Consider her ways and be wise,
7 Which, having no captain,
Overseer or ruler,
8 Provides her supplies in the summer,
And gathers her food in the harvest.
9 How long will you slumber, O sluggard?
When will you rise from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep—
11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,
And your need like an armed man.” Proverbs 6:6-11 NKJV
Lord of Creation,
It is that time of year when I find ants exploring my kitchen looking for an expansion to their territory. I do try to put creatures out of my house when I find them. I can’t hold spiders but I can scoop them into pots for removal! But ants, well they never stay still and there is always another one and going in a different direction.
Seeing them and then reading Proverbs 6 I had to stop here. It is so simple I almost scan read over it. But there it is, the simple example of an ant working away putting sluggards to shame. And you created that little ant to be a part of the ecosystem to aerate soil, manage waste and disperse seeds.
I know that we all need times of rest and relaxation but I also know that feeling of getting a job done and doing it willingly and well. It’s a reminder Lord. I may never get to the bottom of my to do lists but . . . I am able to cross of those I have. And I do love those things doing things together with others.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen

A traditional hymn and I chose this version because they do not drag the tune out and there are smiling faces!
Saviour, Thy dying love
Thou gavest me,
Nor should I aught withhold,
My Lord, from Thee:
In love my soul would bow,
My heart fulfill its vow,
Some offering bring Thee now,
Something for Thee.
At the blest mercy seat,
Pleading for me,
My feeble faith looks up,
Jesus, to Thee:
Help me the cross to bear,
Thy wondrous love declare,
Some song to raise, or prayer,
Something for Thee.
Give me a faithful heart,
Likeness to Thee,
That each departing day
Henceforth may see
Some work of love begun,
Some deed of kindness done,
Some wand’rer sought and won,
Something for Thee.
All that I am and have,
Thy gifts so free,
In joy, in grief, thro’ life,
Dear Lord, for Thee!
And when Thy face I see,
My ransomed soul shall be,
Thro’ all eternity,
Something for Thee.
Thro’ all eternity, Something for Thee.
Thro’ all eternity, Something for Thee.
