I will extol You, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name forever and ever.

Creator God,
You spoke and the world came into being. You did not have to speak at length a simple command and each day was complete (Genesis 1). Then the perfect Word was spoken and became flesh (John 1:14).
But as David so eloquently shows us we need many words to give our worship and gratitude. But sometimes we can contain it in an overwhelming sigh when You take us by surprise! What better way to begin a Monday than David’s words of worship. Not too flowery and covering so much. . To recognise and remember the many who have gone before to enable the gospel to continue even in our generation and to give thanks. To try and meditate on Your greatness, Your flawless character and the big picture rather than dwelling on the me, me, me. The generations of the faithful around the world and Your faithfulness to them and us.
Help me to play my tiny little part in this world wide historic picture and be astounded and encouraged to be a part of it.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
