“One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is translated, A Stone). 43 The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”” John 1:40-45 NKJV

“On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” 4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”” . . . “This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.” John 2:1-5 NKJV

God and Father,

It is a shock to me that in my mind I had put the first sign (miracle) of the water to wine as coming before Jesus started His ministry. Perhaps because Jesus himself says it is not His time yet? But clearly Jesus has already called some of His disciples and they were following Him. Jesus responds to His mother with grace and has mercy on the hosts of the wedding. He does it all quietly. His mother knows and there is another verse I seem to have skipped over, that his disciples must have seen and believed, and it manifested His glory. It manifested: showed, revealed, or made something clear through sign, action, or physical appearance. They witnessed it with their own eyes. I had not pictured them being there. But they were.

There are so many experiences that we have had Father that have assured us of Your love, provision and guidance in our lives. We look back and cannot deny them. And we know that new believers can be encouraged by our testimony but, they need their own, seeing is believing, moments. We pray that You will open hearts and minds to see Your miracles at work just as the disciples did in their early days. And give us faith to go on expecting and seeing You call new disciples. As well as the privilege of serving You.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Worship Thursday 15th October 2026

I love the way this worship has the Old Testament and the New Testament- showing the same God of miracles.

Remember Joseph
Watching God fulfill his dreams
Remember Moses
Walking through the parted sea
Jehovah led His people through
Remember Daniel
Safe inside the lion’s den
Remember David
Flinging stones at giants’ heads
We know what our God can do, yeah

We stand on the side of the Miracle Maker
We stand on the side of the stone-rolling Savior
If He is for us, who can be against us?

Remember Jairus
When his daughter raised to life
Remember Lazarus
When he opened up his eyes
He came running out that tomb
We know what our God can do, yeah

We stand on the side of the Miracle Maker
We stand on the side of the stone-rolling Savior
If He is for us, who can be against us?

We stand on the Rock that can never be shaken
We join in the song that they’re singing in Heaven
Forever with us, oh, praise the name of Jesus

Hey-yeah

He’s the same God now as He was back then
He can do for us what He did for them
All God’s people sing together
We stand on the side of the Miracle Maker
He’s the same God now as He was back then
He can do for us what He did for them (c’mon)
Oh, all God’s people sing together
We stand on the side of the Miracle Maker
Let all God’s people sing together

We stand on the side of the Miracle Maker (we stand with the Miracle Maker)
We stand on the side of the stone-rolling Savior
If He is for us (He is for us), who can be against us?

We stand on the Rock that can never be shaken (can never be shaken)
We join in the song that they’re singing in Heaven (sing it out, sing it out)
Forever with us, oh, praise the name of Jesus

We praise Your name, Yesterday and today And forever You’re the same
All the glory, all the power all the praise belongs to the Miracle Maker

Lyrics: Jonathan Smith / Phil Wickham
